The San Francisco Zoo is a wonderful place that has been enjoyed since childhood. It offers a peaceful and clean environment where visitors can see a variety of animals and exhibits. Many reviews highlight the well-cared-for animals and friendly staff, making it a great spot for families, friends, or solo visits. Visitors can walk along winding paths and enjoy gardens and viewing platforms, some with ocean views. The zoo provides many ways to support and participate, such as buying souvenirs, making embossed pressings, or purchasing zoo-themed items, with the knowledge that proceeds help maintain this vital refuge for animals. However, some visitors have noted that the zoo could improve. There were comments about fewer animals being visible during certain visits, and some areas like the rainforest being closed during special free days. Confusing layout and signage were also mentioned, suggesting that better directions could enhance the experience. Despite these issues, many still found the zoo to be a fantastic place to see animals like giraffes, wolverines, and rhinoceroses. Some visitors expressed hope that with investment and planning, the zoo could grow into a stronger sanctuary for Earth's creatures, especially as natural species decline worldwide. Overall, the San Francisco Zoo is a cherished place with the potential to thrive again, inviting visitors to support it and enjoy its many offerings.
I love this zoo. They have volunteers that set up and educate people threw out the day. Everyone with the exception of one woman was very nice. Coming from Fresno almost none of the animals at this zoo I had every seen before. Only with they could have all their penny press machines fixed.

Great zoo! I come here to walk circles around the zoo. Great exercise and stroll to see all the different animals. It's enjoyable and not crowded during the weekdays. You get the SF air breeze from the nearby beach at times. Parking is easy and paid but you can find street parking in the north side.

We came mostly for the kids but I think I enjoyed it just as much as they did. Seeing the giraffes up close was pretty cool. We took our time walking around instead of trying to see everything at once. Really nice afternoon.
