“The guy there helped me replace two spokes and align my back wheel for $11. Super knowledgeable and friendly,
. Couldn't recommend enough for any type of bike repair on a budget, plus you get the training to do it yourself”

“A friend asked me if I wouldn't mind posting this for him. So I said sure....Here it is:Due to recent storm damage and a lengthy unforeseen power outage situation. I lost most of my food. I was embarrassed and somewhat resistant to seek any assistance because I've always managed to take care of myself. My friend brought me with her to SLO Food Bank. I didn't have to explain or justify my situation to anybody nor did I feel belittled or patronized while I was there. I was given some staples of food and additional helpful information. SLO Food Bank was such a blessing! Everybody there wore welcoming smiles and were terrific, helpful human beings.★ I am forever humbled and grateful because of your caring hearts and genuine desire to help lift up so many in your/our community experiencing all kinds of low moments in their lives. This is a rare but very real example in which no words I have could effectively represent what my heart is feeling...Yet before I sign off here. It is imperative that I at least extend a simple and heartfelt "THANK YOU" to everyone at SLO Food Bank! You are all Angels!Anonymous ~”

“Good afternoon AllMy name is Patti and I volunteer for The Salvation Army. Have since April 2020. There is a review written about me that is false. Please be cautious of this person. I have contacted the authorities about her and they are aware of her condition. I had to block her from social media, as well as block her calls. I kept screen shots of her threats. Not sure why she is targeting me, but here we are. I will continue to help anyone who needs help. Thank you.I wish her better mental health ?”

“I worked here for approximately 4 hours as a fry cook. As a proud man of Scottish descent, I’m happy to say I could wear my kilt while making fries. Truly a moment to remember.”

“We visited the Newman Center during a college tour and Fr. Gerry could not have been more kind and welcoming to daughter and I! It was amazing to learn and understand about the strong support of Fr. Gerry, staff and students who shepard each other's journey in faith, service and to one another and the greater community. Retreats, Masses, socializing and study spaces are just some of wonderful offerings of the Newman Center. SLO is my daughters number one pick for her college journey and we were comforted and excited to know that if she is blessed to attend this school that she has the Newman Center to support her.”

“In 2003 I moved into sunny acres where I got my first taste of soberity. This July 9th I'll have 18 years of soberity I own Dan Duvall a debt of gratitude for having the foresight to build a low income sober living home and for the strength and fortitude to stand up against city hall over and over again putting people's soberity health and wellbeing above everything else. Keep the fight going against city hall!”

Thankful for their patients, I was lead in the right direction . It's makes so much difference when you go to any kind of business and the employees treat you with respect and humankindness . We need more of that in this worldTHANK YOUPauline”

“Reuse, Recycle, and ReStore!

This store has everything you might need for your home renovation projects—everything from furniture, appliances, and light fixtures to old/new doors and windows. They have a large selection of paint, electrical, and plumbing supplies.

We went looking for a tall and wide interior door to use as a barn door for our remodel project. We found several and were able to get the perfect brand-new tall door for only $29 (see photo).
The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Super happy and highly recommend for such a great service.”

“I have been a Big Sister for 4.5 years now and it is the BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE. No experience necessary! * You just have to have a good heart (a background check) and want to spend time with a great kid who needs some attention and guidance. The rewards can be enormous. In my case, my Little Sister and I bake, go to the movies, make birthday cakes for her family members, do art and craft projects, go out for lunch, explore places neither of us have been, take my dog to the beach and go out for frozen yogurt. I did not have kids of my own, and when I was ready for grandkids Big Brothers and Big Sisters was a great opportunity. My Little Sister couldn't crack an egg when we first got together, and now she teaches her friends how to make cookies from scratch. Cooking with someone is a great way to bond. I love having the opportunity to teach so many of the skills I have to a bright and loving young lady. I expect we will always be friends. Our match was perfect, and she brings great joy to my life! *Honestly, I have no experience being a big sister, I was the youngest kid in my family.”
