“I'm in there nearly every night they have just about everything they're very friendly.
They have a great section of liquor and they have great section of beer in addition to having an enormous selections of fine wines. They've got a Bitcoin ATM and a regular ATM.”
“Ed's is really the best place to go! Friendly customer service, professional, quick and convenient! Same staff, same place, everyday! And by the way, you can still get a 12 oz drink for a buck. I went in a couple of weeks ago and bought a 12 oz can of mountain dew for a dollar! I've always enjoyed going into Ed's Liquor Store. Check it out for yourself!”
“Great little corner store. The reason this place is 5/5 is because the owner is always such a nice person. I’d rather support small business owners like this a million times over any corporate place”
“This is my main liquor store period!!! The staff is amazing, always in good spirits. Prices are fare and I won’t go to another liquor store PERIOD!!!! Shame on you if you do!!!”
“They worked with me on delivering four tanks of propane and did exactly what they promised to do. They kept communicating with me to make sure that the propane was delivered. It was fast and reasonable.”
“This place is great! Great prices on minis, some cigars in a fridge looking humidor, and some beers and spirits too. This place is VERY wine-heavy, so this is a must if you’re into wine. Friendly and knowledgeable staff too. Definitely coming back!”
“Best place to look for Italian ingredients! I love this place. Its small but has everything you need that you cannot find in regular grocery markets. I cant list everything so drop by! Its legit.”
“This visit was a genuinely positive experience, highlighted by the exceptional service from a respectful and helpful staff member. The store's inventory is impressive and convenient, offering more than just liquor—a wide array of snacks, drinks, and even wine are available. Discovering a new shooter finding a classic Don Julio 1942, on a beautiful California day was an unexpected and delightful surprise.
The prices are quite reasonable for the area, and while there may not be many deals, the straight pricing is fair.
Overall, the atmosphere is vibrant, with cool and unique items, including stylish surf liquor trucker hats. The only potential improvement would be the addition of a restroom, though I understand the limitations given the surrounding establishments.
In general, this place has a great vibe, and I will definitely be returning!”
“Wonderful owner and staff. Always gracious and attentive to their customers. Selection is focused and prices are very reasonable. After 35 years shopping here, it is still my favorite for local quick stop.”
“We love this grocery store so much!!! The staff is just unbelievably kind and so helpful!! We had a great experience with Will in the produce department, he’s the best!”

“One of the best wine shop in los Angeles with an amazing curated selection from California and every major wine producing country such as France, Italy, Spain, Australia, Argentina and Chile and very competitive prices sometimes even less than the big stores and supermarkets! An inexpensive $15 bottle to $50, $100 and beyond. The staffs are very knowledgeable and on top of their work to help you find a perfect bottle or 2 or 6 with discounts for yourself or for gifting. I am impressed!! Go and find out for yourself why they are called the King of Wines/Champagne in Santa Monica. I didn’t know that it is also one of the oldest shop in town over 90 years old.”
“I miss the quality of this store, the owner and the staff give to everyone such welcome feeling always and they're super friendly they deserve so much more business. I moved to New York and feel so sad to not find that kind of customer service here.. I hope you guys sell a lot of alcohol this new 2024 year!!”
“The people who complain about this store do not live in the neighborhood and understand Sammy's generosity. After reading many of the negative reviews, they come from people that require Amazon Level response for everything in their life. When it's time to get drunk or buy a gift, they turn into complainants.
Wine Expo is the best neighborhood liquor and fine store in the college streets of Santa Monica!”

“Great beer selection and very reasonable prices. The guy at the counter (Bill?) was extremely friendly and very helpful. Although only in town for a week, he made me feel like it was my local liquor store and we had been been going there for years.”
“Amazing customer service. Everybody is always so friendly here I work at the hospital down the street and come here almost every day. Everybody is always helpful and knowledgeable . It’s nice to see Kind people with great service definitely not used to that around here lol!!! Love this selection and happy to support our local neighborhood Liquor Store! You guys are fantastic. Keep doing what you’re doing.”
“Interesting location with plenty of free (underground) parking. Found exactly what I needed (Kylie Minogue 0% Sparkling Rosé) and then some (Galicia Especial 0%). Both were very refreshing! Taking a break from the sauce! ?”
“Very cute neighborhood store! They have decent wine selection in the back, kegs and anything you really need! Friendly clerk Fred will help you find anything you need, quickly check you out and wish you a good day!”
“Update: June 2026
Noticed several recent posts on security guard. I frequent the store a couple times a week & have yet to see one but would welcome the addition. Have seen too many incidents of poor managerial oversight, from young staff kids hanging in the dining area as childcare to freeloaders filling up at the hot/salad bars without paying to intrusive outside individuals asking for donations.
It’s a great store, great neighborhood location & nice staff. Security may just need some training on surveilling. I use self checkout as a rule & there’s always a staffer watching for potential theft. I get it & am not offended.
Original review:
In general there’s everything to love about this store, it is immaculate, more than enough selection & great neighborhood store & I’ll do anything to avoid Whole Foods (Amazon owned) these days. Self checkout is awesome, the lines for cashiers are too long (they’re usually chatting with other staff anyway) so thanks for the quick checkout option.”
“My wife and I always go here for beverages. They have a nice selections of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.
The people running the store are good people aswell.”
“Winc is a top notch company and my #1 when I want to order wine. They recognize and provide a platform for up and coming Wine Masters to showcase their unique flavors and brands. They have a wide variety of wine that will please your pallet. Reasonably priced and fast free delivery. I couldn't be happier!”
“This liquor store is under new management. They have remodeled the store and now it is always fully stock and items are up to date and the customer service is amazing. They have a huge selection of wine and liquor. I enjoy coming to this liquor store. Both the owner and staff members are amazing.”
“I had a great experience here. Honest vendors should receive praise and good business. Everyone else is charging egregiously prices $11.99, $10.99 for a pint of Ben & Jerry’s - Star Liquor selling them at $6.99.”
“In this ever changing world, it's amazing this small business is still thriving in the same building at this location. I worked here in the early 70's, 6 until closing. Met several "movie types". Good memories.”
“went here only because it was my last resort. i had robbed a man of $16 in order to purchase food for myself. i bought 4 lottery tickets and a mountain dew. i also “bought” some chips. Please help me. good employees tho”
“I had a morning where I hadn't eaten anything, and I was super starving. This place turned out to be my savior . This unassuming place had everything I could want, and it came at just the right time. So grateful I found it just driving down the street.”
