“Yury is excellent at lamp repair and very reasonable. I am glad I trusted him with putting all new electrics in my antique desk lamp. Getting rid of the frayed cord and brittle socket, and replacing with new parts that match the old parts is fantastic.”

“I was wandering along in San Francisco on my way to visit the bookbinder museum when I met the owner of The Box SF, Mark. When I told him I was interested in books and other historical items, he graciously invited me to enter his shop. The outside is discrete and belies how magical the inside space truly is. When you enter, you're immediately blown away by the vintage art and artifacts everywhere. Mark and his assistant, Israel, gave me a mini-tour and explained how the shop specializes in ephemera, which refers to items that were designed for short-term use (advertising prints, perfume bottles, soap labels, etc). The shop contains items from the mid-1800s to the early-1900s from around the world. Everything is in great condition and attests to the craftsmanship of earlier time periods. What was supposed to be a quick 20-30 minute visit turned into a 2-hour visit.Everywhere you turn, there's something new to take in. I love antique and thrift stores, yet I have never encountered anything as unique as The Box. I found some souvenirs to take home with me and even the wrapping paper was this cool, historical print. The Box is a treasure trove for people who love vintage, antique, or novel artifacts. If that's your style, you have to visit.”
“These guys are one-of-a-kind, and unbelievably good. We have a Victorian home, and if you’ve ever tried to shop for Aesthetic Movement/Eastlake furniture, you know just how impossible it is. Enter Laurel Crown. We placed our first order with them to outfit our parlor using stock items from their website. A sofa, occasional tables, 4 upholstered chairs, plant stands etc. We were very pleased with all of it.
But while using it, we began to think about how we could better use some of their other items if we could customize some dimensions. So we contacted Lauren Crown about this, and they were very accommodating. Intrigued, we wondered just how far we could take this customization business.
For our next project we had our study and dinning rooms to furnish. For these rooms we wanted a little less Victorian, and a bit more Aesthetic Movement/Eastlake. When we asked, they told us to send some photo ideas. Well, of course we went right to photos of original Aesthetic Movement pieces, and sent them along. The photographed pieces we sent were exquisite and intricate. Their reply: No problem! Which naturally seemed too good to be true…
We went over dimensions and sizes desired, and a week or 3 later they produced detailed drawings for our approval. One of the pieces for the dinning room was a custom console with an under-mount sink. They told us to purchase the sink we desired, and mail them the sink cutout template, which we did.
The only thing a bit disappointing about Laurel Crown is their upholstery selection, which is pretty limited. But this was easily over come, as it turned out. They told us how much fabric would be required for the various pieces, and we were able to purchase great replica Victorian fabrics from Spoonflower. Spoonflower sent our fabric directly to Laurel Crown.
Finally we had the order all together, and we paid a 40% deposit. The fabric, sink template, and all the dimensions and photos then went off from California to Indonesia, where the actual furniture is crafted. I think they said it would be about a year.
It ended up being closer to 18 months. Covid probably had a little something to do with that. But yesterday the delivery finally arrived. It was all white-glove with 4 movers. It took a few hours to get everything in, but it was all done courteously and professionally.
The best part: The furniture is stunning! Every piece. Exactly as we wished for. And our chosen fabrics ended up being perfect for their desired rooms, something we’d been worried about…
The astonishing part: They never asked for the final payment! The furniture was delivered, the movers left, and we had to ask them for the final invoice. Who does that any more? That’s what we mean about Laurel Crown being very special. And speaking of money, the prices we paid were completely within the average of high-end furniture, -not for high end completely customized furniture. Amazing. We could not recommend a company more highly than Laurel Crown.”
“They are the best, and have been for years. I can't think of anyone else who can do what they do. They have been repairing my family silver for decades now.”
“We have the utmost satisfaction and gratitude for the outstanding services provided by Kevin and The YES Co. team for our family's Hillsborough 1 acre estate sale. Our family home was will known especially for the historical Japanese Tea Garden. The exceptional professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to ensuring a seamless process were truly remarkable. This was paramount since the extensive property was already sold and needed to be handed over to the new owner in the proper condition. From the initial stages of planning to the execution of the estate sale, Kevin and his team demonstrated a level of expertise and care that exceeded our expectations. One of the most notable aspects of their service was the meticulous attention to detail when handling the logistics of the day. They thoughtfully considered every aspect, even providing an all-weather option in case of rain.We were highly impressed with the precautions taken to create a secure environment for both buyers and the estate items. Their dedication to safety not only gave us peace of mind but also showcased their commitment to conducting business with the highest standards of integrity.Communication throughout the entire process was exceptional. Kevin, went above and beyond by keeping us informed through emails with photos, both during the preparation phase leading up to the estate sale and throughout the event itself. This gave us a clear understanding of the progress and ensured that we were well-informed every step of the way. This transparent and proactive approach significantly contributed to making what could have been a stressful process remarkably easy and smooth. Our family is grateful for the outstanding service we received and have no hesitation in endorsing The YES Co. for anyone seeking top-notch estate management services.”

“Great experience! Loved being able to build my own bracelet. It's a little overpriced for the materials but I guess not for the area. Staff is awesome! Lots of other good things in the shop to buy as well!”

“Great shop! Got some very nice coasters from there. Would’ve bought a dozen other things if I didn’t have to get on a plane the next day. Will revisit next time I’m there”
“Great selection of one of a kind rings! Marcus was very knowledgeable, patient, and not pushy when it came to choosing an engagement ring. Just the experience I was looking for. “Jeff at JAFE refinished an old brown dresser we had for my daughter! Now it is a "fancy" white :P excellent work throughout! And attention to detail! We bought the ceramic cloud handles from an Etsy vendor!”
“Wow. Steve just delivered our solid oak coffee table. He picked it up about a week ago, as the top finish was wearing off. He refinished the top using six thin coats of lacquer, and the job looks better than a factory finish. Pick up and delivery was included in the more than fair price. A+ in all respects, including being on time, which is very rare today.”

“Ahhhhmazing inventory! Brian is sooo creative and artistic and has a keen eye for quality unique vintage / antique pieces. He is an honest, accommodating, and professional merchant and provides expeditious and cost effective shipping. Additionally, Brian promptly responded to my phone messages and emails. As well, my vintage industrial floor lamp arrived timely, undamaged, and was packaged carefully and securely. The lamp was as described and pictured on the website. I highly recommend Brain and S16Home for the incredible inventory and exceptional customer service! 5*****buyer experience”
“What a gem of a find! A hidden mix of treasures, both antique and new. The gentleman working there was finishing some pieces to add to their inventory. Deceiving from the outside, I thought it was going to be a small shop... but there was so much to explore and admire. I tried my best to keep hands off because as most of us know, antiques can be pricey. But they have some affordable stuff as well!”
“Nice vintage furniture and decor / household items at excellent prices. I would definitely visit again! Note that they're now located between San Jose Ave and Santa Rosa Ave — the address shown in Google Maps is their old location a few blocks north :)”

“Tom is incredibly knowledgeable and generous with his time. My wife and I had a problem with a locked drawer on a piece of furniture and he spent nearly an hour working on getting it open with all the antique keys he had. Very kind of him!”
“This is hands down one of the best vintage stores! The owner is super knowledgeable. I purchased an Eames fiberglass chair shell without a base three months ago. I asked the owner if he can help me find a paring base. Now at the first week of the new year the owner found a perfect matching base for the shell and reached out to me. I feel so lucky to have discovered this shop?”
“My husband and I love this place. There are so many items there: from high quality antiques to unusual ecclectic curiosities. The price is also very reasonable. There is no reason to spend more on new furniture of poor quality and has no character. David is very knowledgeable in European antique and has a lot of exquisite pieces from Europe. We love coming to the store just to browse but never left empty-handed.”

“This place is AMAZING!!! Such an incredible selection of vintage furniture, home goods, decor, glassware, bags, and tons more along with some more modern stuff from brands like Crate and Barrel, Hearth & Hand, etc. The more you look, the more you’ll find. The store owner Valerie was also so kind and friendly - she helped me look for things and even helped me carry everything out to my car! Definitely plan to come back.”
“The owner Phyllis is an absolute delight of a human! Awesome selection of curiosities and antiques from over 150 years ago. Amazing service; what a wonderful neighborhood gem!”
“Very kind, thoughtful owner. We didn't end up using his services because we wanted our antique table disassembled for storage instead of restored (ultimately didn't make sense to do) but he spent a good 10 minutes brainstorming how best to store our table even after we declined his work.”
“Great antique store. The best part is how interesting everything is. Not just some random furniture or old decorations but real porcelain figurines, oil paintings, or ornaments, along with a wide assortment of other stuff.”

“Great antique shop right next to Jack London square in downtown Oakland. They always have a great selection - and the items are constantly changing which makes frequent visits entertaining. I’ve purchased multiple large furniture items from them. Staff has always been helpful and friendly. The place is also very dog friendly - and my dog always has a friend there when we go (as can be seen from the photos). The place has also been impacted by all of the retail crime that has been hitting Oakland, so definitely great to support their business if you can.”
“I purchased an opal and diamond ring from Lang when I was in San Francisco several years ago. When my husband, Mike, was shopping for my birthday present, we decided to look at Lang’s selection online. I found the perfect pair of diamonds earrings and Mike worked with Tracey to have them shipped overnight. They are prettier in person than in the picture. We would normally never order diamonds online but I trust Lang and will continue to shop with them.”
