“I found bunch of New books and bought 11 today for less than $25. But books are not organized at the shop so you will have to spend time to look for them. It's like going to a thrift bookstore except these are brand new books”

“Excellent organization. They follow through with their customers, ask questions if they are unsure about your order, they have even given me tips on how to reduce costs. The products are all overly pricey, but thats the way it is with all church supply stores. Ive had the owner or ceo reach out to me in the past, and this past week I had a customer service question and the person who responded was the same owner/ceo”

“Is it unfair to rate a bookstore that I've only visited after hours? Not if it's to review world-class jazz at said bookstore! My wife & I saw the Joe McKinley quartet last week and it was a fantastic experience. As a band, you have to be tight if you're going to play in a bookstore because the acoustics are so intimate. No reverb to cover up mistakes, and these guys were top-notch. They played some standards and some originals, and it was all great stuff.”

“This is such a wonderful bookshop. I have found many rare and used books there that are now treasured parts of my personal library. I have always found the owner and his employees to be very kind, helpful, and interested.”

“The ladies at the store asked that I update them since it was such a unique request. I forgot to get your contact info so a review will suffice. My partner loved the books you recommended and was familiar with and had been very planning to read works from both authors. My request was very specific (a gift for my partner with a specialized interest in Soviet Union history, more specifically at the intersection of Jewish history there in) and the shop keepers were knowledgeable and well informed with recommendations which he loved. I’m so grateful for your assistance in making it a great birthday for him.”

“This bookstore has so much heart. How wonderful and special it is to have a bookstore specializing in food in our community. I am grateful to have met the authors behind Woks of Life, Kristina Cho, and Jon Kung and get signed copies of their cookbooks! They have all events listed on their website and I could encourage anyone who loves to cook or likes cookbooks to check them out! I am grateful to have them in the city!”

“This company is outstanding. Needed a bulk order for a local book club, and they were able to quickly give me a quote with a discount (less than 24 hours). Once we agreed to the price, they had the books by the next day and delivered them to my doorstep at no additional cost. Special shout-out to Jackson, who made every step seamless and headache-free.”

“Vacationing in SF, and couldnt have come across a more knowledgable and friendly little book store. My bags will be heavier on the flight home, but I will be entertained with the books tailored to my precise literary needs.”

“My favorite bookstore! I love the wide selection of LGBTQ in front of the bookstore. I was able to purchase a signed copy of "A Scatter of Light" by the author Malinda Lo. I also follow their social media and they sometimes have guest author appearances. I have purchased a few books here and the staff have been friendly.”

“I needed to get a cabinet to store wood samples in my showroom that didn't cost a fortune. I remembered passing by this place multiple times. I chose a great pine cabinet and had David's people finish it. They were very flexible with delivery as it had to come to a business with specific times. Highly recommend!”

“Beautifully remodeled with an inviting outdoor space, all done with simple artistry. A forward thinking manager chooses books which expands the readers horizons. Pleasant personal and good coffee. A welcoming space in our increasingly gentrified neighborhood.”

“An excellent source for graphic novels for school age kids, especially if you want more diversity than the typical marvel or DC approach. When I found out my 1st grader was trans, this store helped me find age appropriate books that they could see themselves in. And they in turn learned stories about brown kids, black kids, and immigrants from other graphic novels there that I would never have known existed. Staff are excellent and know their stock.”

“I was looking for books about birds. And this place didn't disappoint me.I was also asked (as a favor) to get One Nation Under Blackmail, but only the Vol.1 was readily available. Then, the store owner was kind enough to help me get the Vol.2.The estimated arrival of the said book was 2-3 days. It arrived just the day after my request. What a service. They got a handful of books about birds, but there's not much space in my luggage. But still, I had to choose two from the stack. One was on sale, so it was a steal. I just couldn't pass it up.”

“This is truly an institution in japantown. The wonderful things you can find at this bookstore is not just books, nor the little gifts, calendars, or other knickknacks. The best thing about this place is the atmosphere and the visual things you find in every little corner. I think the best thing is the front window displays that changes regularly and seems to draw the most amount of visitors to come inside and explore. Once inside you will find a variable smorgasbord of Japanese cultural offerings and lots of unique reading materials and gifts straight from the land of the rising sun. I can guarantee that you will find at least a couple things that you would want to take home with you. It's very interesting looking through the books and magazine aisle and seeing how different Japanese culture is to American culture. When coming here plan to come early as it gets really crowded with visitors, tourists, and locals. Plan to also spend quite a bit of money as some of these books costs a lot to get imported here. My daughter bought an anime illustrative book and it cost a whopping $50+.”

“Love this bookshop - cozy, special, friendly, well-stacked. They hand-write these beautiful department-signs and the staff sticks notes with book-reviews next to the books. Awesome. Drop in when you are near. Absolutely worth it!”

“By coincidence I came in to this book store where I saw books on display that rapidly intrigued me, and made me think about diverse topics. Definitely worth a visit if you are seeking for food for thoughts.”

“I was looking for a place that carries products aimed at cognitive enhancement (nootropics) and overall brain health and wellness (adaptogens). Drawn to the name, The Higher Consciousness, I found such supplements to elevate my mind. It's a specialty shop located in the eclectic and diverse Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. They carry a wide assortment of unique cbd, mushrooms, and plant medicines not found elsewhere, all reasonably priced. The shop owners are very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to answering questions and making product suggestions based on your specific needs. You can also find an interesting assortment of cannabis and mushroom themed books, novelties, and gifts. I've been here a few times and truly recommend this place. Nothing but good vibes and great customer service here. Thanks guys! Not to mention, it's always good to support and shop local businesses.”

“I went here a while back to buy some very affordable guitars when I was teaching myself how to play the guitar. I bought a nice electric guitar (Stratocaster style--I don't recall the brand) and a Rosa acoustic guitar. I also purchased a tambourine and a recorder. Even though they were not expensive, the employee (I think his name was Abraham) still added on an additional discount! What a deal! So, if you need to purchase an affordable guitar, which are displayed in the front window, this is just the place for you.”

“We stopped here because of a mention on our Big Bus Tour. Our daughter noted it was just a short walk from Golden Gate Park (our ultimate destination) so we decided to walk the couple of blocks to Green Apple. We are so happy we did, as we love independent bookstores and found this one to be thoughtful and carefully curated. The children's section and the stationary were especially lovely.”

“A great bookshop with excellent choice of books. It has all those interesting books from the past, but not many that you get swamped. Run by Volunteers of the Library. Books cost.under $10, some as low can as $3, even for a volume. The success of a bookstore is in the choice of the books.”

“The has got to be the best independent bookstore in SF. It's tiny but, don't let their size fool you! I have eclectic tastes and I am able to 99.9 % of the books I need in the shop. On the rae occasion they don't have it they get it for me. Their staff is so knowledgeable, I have been able to describe a book and they figure out the puzzle. When I plan to travel, I like to read fiction that takes place in that country or town. They always provide me a selection of brilliant tomes. Whether your visiting, a tourist or, lifelong San Franciscan, you owe yourself a visit!”
