“I was disappointed this time because there was not a good men collection. So I had to spend my money on kids and women clothes. But I give them 4 stars because of my previous experiences there”

Book Stores
“San Carlos is filled with interesting shops all around. Loved checking out Reach and Teach store. They’ve got a good selection of educational toys for children, they carry some good books but a limited selection. A good place to find a unique toy or gift for someone.
Staff are very helpful and know their products well and quick to make recommendations should you ask for it. I love how they have some of the games/puzzles on display so you can try them out - and know exactly what you’re buying. Children can come and try out most of the toys before commiting to a purchase- now that’s a win-win!
Store is located along San Carlos Avenue right beside Starbucks. Best day to go is on a Sunday when there’s ample parking and there’s farmers market along Laurel St.”
“ive been going to linden tree since it opened (when i was a child!) and im still always awed by the kind and thoughtful touches around the store. for instance they have the most child friendly restroom i’ve ever been in. we are lucky to have you in los altos!”
“What a delightful place! If you are in Bay Area and love books, I cannot recommend Kepler's enough.
Thank you to kind, supportive and incredibly amazing team for all they do to make this place a bibliophile's haven. 🙂”
“Special book lover/collectors: you will love this store. So many hidden gem, 2 stories, books of all genre and topics, few in diffrent languages too, books from 1800's..the pages and leather worn out, poetry (not just Rumi), this gem here for sale for $500. You can get lost here. Support community and local business where you can!”
“Great local book store. They have a buyback program that let's you read the book and return it for credit if it's in generally good condition. They also have author events and readings events.”
“Really lovely and cute bookstore! Super friendly staff who are willing to help you out. Also, I appreciate that they have some gifts, plushies, and cards as well!”
“Slightly hidden used bookstore in the basement of the San Mateo County History Museum and operated by volunteers to benefit the historical association.
A large selection of all types of books are well organized across many rooms. Quite a few old books may keep collectors browsing for a while. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Prices are very reasonable.”
“Stumbled upon this local bookstore when we were in the area. It was a small but cute bookstore with lots of books and toys for kids. Found many interesting items here.”
“A great place for fun and unique items especially if you are exploring your own spirituality. A wide variety of spiritual path books. Candles, incense, gift items, and clothes. Not what you see everywhere else”
“Offers a large selection of books, a friendly atmosphere, and a strong magazine and newspaper section that adds to the browsing experience.
The staff, when I visited, were rude.”
“Lovely store and an institution for children books, toys etc al. They arrange great reading and social events for kids, which help develop love for books. Also great for connecting with parents of similar age group children.
Location is perfect.
Has free parking nearby.”
“This drop off centre for book donations is wonderful. They have a good selection and variety of books that others have donated and it’s definitely worth checking out. If you are looking to donate then just know that the hours for donations are limited. 3pm to 5pm Monday through Friday and 1pm to 5pm on Saturday. These pictures are from the card they gave me today 4/20/26, so this info could change in the future.”
“One of my Favorite Christian Stores!! The staff is Wonderful & helpful & John is very knowledgeable!!! They are able to order items, that may not be in stock, too!!”
“I love this place so much i could live in it
This is an edit to a review I’ve already made and I still love this place and I’m writing it because I love this place so much and I almost always have amazing experiences with the staff here they’re so kind but today was a little different and it was someone I had never seen before. It was an older lady and she was just kind of rude to my friend and I it was kind of jarring because I’ve never had an experience like that there. For example, my friend tried to ask her a question and she held her finger up to her. I still love this place and still gets five stars. I just wanted to write a little review because it just doesn’t seem to align with what Barnes & Noble usually is like.
But I love the selection and there’s so many fidget toys and other things that’s an amazing store. I love it and again I could live in it”
“Small store that packs in lots of great inventory from Taiwan. Was able to find wintermelon tea bricks, aiyu seeds, and grass jelly powder for some refreshing summertime drinks/desserts.”
“Tons of books and other things to browse and buy. The staff are friendly and the store is we'll kept. There's plenty of parking, and you can find all the new releases you've been looking for, as well as books that you've never heard of but are sure to grab your attention.”
“Been living nearby for almost six months and finally made it to Stanford to soak up the vibe of this top-tier campus! The bookstore is amazing to browse and shop. I was so surprised by all their brand collaborations—Lululemon, Nike, and even Free People! Also, their teddy bears are absolutely adorable and make the perfect gifts for little ones.”
