Grocery Stores in Studio City, CA

“I can't even describe the absolute HEAVEN that this store is.... please watch the video I made for you!! I'm neurodivergent & this is such a soothing place. Regular grocery stores are chaotic af, and give me anxiety. This is absolute HEAVEN. ???

I now see that this platform only accepted 30 seconds of the video I made for you guys. Total bummer, but I'll explain it in words, that's fine. Everything is in glass jars, bottles, & bags that you can buy there, or bring yourself to re fill. This place is like 98% organic/non GMO & about 95% vegan (they have cheese, honey, eggs, & dairy butter). TONS OF SPICES! TEAS! COFFEE! KOMBUCHA ON TAP!

Low impact on our environment with great prices... i can't even start to describe this place! You need it... it's an empath. Zero waste & they recycle & compost. I... I'm speechless.”

“We stopped in for some flowers, snacks, and fruit. This location is particularly more spacious than other TJs. Similar quality products as other TJs. Friendly cashiers.”

“The only place I'm aware of in the city where I can get Maties herring and Icelandic cod liver in a can. If you're into specialty fish imports, this is the place to go.Also, picked up some black truffle microwave popcorn for my truffle-obsessed wife. Some good food gift ideas available.”

“This is a quaint neighborhood Lotto and Liquor Store. The staff is gracious and their stock has proven to be reliable when Costco is closed and I need one paper towel roll to get me through the night. All the locals purchase their Lotto tickets here. My children have loved picking their favorite ice cream bar from their self-serve ice cream freezers. While I had the Good Humor truck, my kids had Ringside for those hot summer days.”

“We've lived close to this market for 10 years and walk over multiple times per week. The service is friendly, and they carry international foods and hard-to-find foods. For instance, we were looking for Amarena cherries, which are difficult to find in bigger grocery stores but M & M had them. They have European chocolate. They have quality products, and as someone who eats healthy, it's not hard to find clean, high-quality products. We run over for cooking oils all the time. Great selection of alcohol, too...they even carry sake. They simply have a surprisingly large selection of quality goods that are hard to find. And they really cater to locals. They remember your name and your dog's name. Just a quality place with quality people.”

“In a perfect world, I would never have to come here. ? I personally don't give a crap about "being seen" or overpaying for all of my groceries for clout, or whatever. lol

HOWEVER. I do come here occasionally, & it's more often than I would like. Because Erewhon does something that nobody else does: they carry specialty diet products & smaller brands that aren't widely distributed. & I appreciate that. They also appear to have slightly stricter quality/ingredient standards than a lot of the other health-focused chains now.

I used to come here for Fermenting Fairy kefir & sauerkraut before she moved to Florida. Then it was a different brand of sauerkraut - Wild West Ferments, I think. Now it's mainly for Beelers bacon, the Brown Butter Baking Co cupcakes, their in-house made chili crunch, the occasional in-house keto brownie or caramel peanut butter bombs, or Koko Kai coconut yogurt.

This was the first place I could buy Sauz, & thanks to Erewhon, they were able to expand into Whole Foods & their prices eventually went down.
I think Toodaloo didn't survive, but Clusterbucks did. Better Sours used to only be here as well, & now they carry them at Ralph's.
Lots of success stories because this place was willing to stock & take a chance on a small, new, local brand & give them a fighting chance to build a fanbase. That gives them the leverage to eventually make their way into a larger chain, paving the way for nationwide distribution if they desire.

I don't agree with everything Erewhon does, & some of their products are absolutely overpriced solely because they know their clientele will pay it anyway - but as long as they keep offering special things relevant to my diet/lifestyle that I can't get elsewhere, I will keep showing up for them. Reluctantly, but that doesn't really matter to them. ?”

“The Vons in Studio City is exactly what you’d expect from a neighborhood supermarket that’s been around for a while—convenient, consistent, and a little limited. The location is great, especially if you’re nearby and need to grab a few things quickly. It’s easy to park, and the store’s not so big that you’ll get lost trying to find eggs or toothpaste.

Selection-wise, it leans toward the basics—plenty of processed and packaged foods, fewer options if you’re hunting for organic produce or specialty health items. There is some good fresh food, but it’s more hit-or-miss compared to higher-end grocery chains nearby. You won’t find a ton of local or artisanal brands, and the produce section can sometimes feel like an afterthought, though it does the job.

What really sets this location apart is the staff. Everyone I’ve encountered—from the cashiers to the folks restocking shelves—has been genuinely friendly, helpful, and quick to assist without the big store runaround. There’s a sense that the employees know the regulars and take pride in the place, which goes a long way.

All in all, this Vons is a solid go-to for everyday grocery runs. It’s not where you’d do your aspirational shopping, but it’s reliable, familiar, and has that low-stress, get-in-and-out feel that’s sometimes exactly what you want.”

“I went to pick up some medication for my husband tonight and the pharmacist and assistant were genuinely worried and asked if he was ok. I gotta say, it’s so rare to see a pharmacy especially a chain where the staff actually knows and cares about their clients. ❤️.”

“Love this location. Its clean, the employees are very nice, and this location has everything. Obviously food, but also isles of kitchenware, appliances, etc. Its like Mt. Olympus compared to the magnolia location. Place can be dingy, not very clean, but the employees can be nice. Im closer to the magnolia location but fresh fare is worth the extra drive!”

“Clean, difficult in this area, nice workers, across the street from the sportsman's lodge. Plenty of parking of course. This store is run down and it shows but they always have what you need. Good deli and hot food area. Regular grocery store. I come here at least once a week. If you're looking for an inexpensive meal, this is the place. Haven't had a bad experience”
