“after visiting many libraries throughout Los Angeles area, i was very excited! and happy to be able to be a regular customer at this store. I come to this store maybe 2-3 times a week and never leave empty handed. If they don't have what i am looking for, they usually have it shipped to the store within few days. How cool is that? REYNA is very polite and always happy to help out :) thumbs up for this store!”

“Yes, just yes. A living breathing used book store with poetry and danger, hidden corners that call you to get lost, and the ringleader Tony who will make actual real unhurried conversation with you and maybe an espresso if you are lucky. This is an affordable used bookstore for the kind of people who love dogeared annotated books pulled from forgotten Nantucket libraries and the occasional first edition signed collection of Anaïs Nin. If there is still some magic in L.A. buried under the tech spawn and YouTube stars in their luxury box apartments, the doorway would be found here.”

“I have never enter this store but I did wait for my brother in the car meanwhile he got a Siddur for me. I observed how the owner walked with my brother towards the books and probably explained to him what the book was for. It took me a while to read the Siddur. Know that I read it every morning and night, I’m very happy with it. May God continue to bless this shop. ?”

“I first heard about Annabelle’s shop from the LA Festival of Books. Their booth was super cute, everything pink. I wanted to buy a book there but they had sold out so they said they could order it for me and pick it up at the store. Their brick and mortar is so cute! Annabelle has not only impeccable taste in design and vibes, but her curated selection of books is great. I plan on coming back to peruse and get my dose of ultra girly, feminine vibes. Great for instagram pics :)”

“Have been buying Taschen publications for several years. They offer beautiful books at affordable prices (I especially love their facsimiles of Medieval books) but have noticed something that bothers me: I treat my books well. I keep them shelved upright or lying flat if they're oversized, and I never force them open to make them lie flat on a table, etc. Nevertheless, over time, pages or entire signatures on some of their publications have come loose. Why make such lovely books, and then glue the signatures in, or if they sew them, sew them in with what is apparently inferior thread? I did contact Taschen about this problem once but got no reply.”

“What a charming delight to stumble across Mystery Pier Books on Sunset! This is one of the hidden gems of L.A that keeps the magic of this city alive... Harvey and Louis are the consummate hosts - welcoming, passionate and full of stories - like their books which are ALL first editions! A stunning collection in this quaint and cosy space. Thank you for your generosity and warmth, we'll be back! Your new Aussie friends, Leah and Jerome”

“Super helpful and inviting. Nice selection of items and reasonable pricing. Definitely a shop worth checking out that doesn't feel so corporatized like Higher Intuition although HI does have its place and different items.”

Their library collection is impressive, and they have books in all Hebrew, English, Spanish, and a few other languages, plus a combination of Hebrew and those languages too.Looking for a gift to give? They have tons of beautiful choices too. High Holidays approaching? Make sure to stock up on all your needs at this place. Need a new succah? They'll have one for you. Lulav and etrog? Go to them... Need a kitel they got you covered. Every time I go to L.A. I try to stop by, even if all I need is a new kippah. This place is awesome.”

“Love this place!! I was on a time crunch to buy gifts for people and managed to get it all done (with complementary gift wrapping and everything) in one trip at this store.Considering the general quality of items at the store, I think the prices are super reasonable. Hits the sweet spot between higher end and tasteful without breaking the bank. Also shoutout to the two people who were working at the store - you were lovely and helpful! Will be coming back to get future gifts.”

“There are many books and workbooks that help children with their grades in class. The price is cheaper than regular bookstores. The owner is also friendly. Be sure to get a point card and use it.”

“The shamash on my electric hanukkiah spontaneously shorted, so I needed to figure out if it required a rewire or if I just needed a new bulb.Yehi oh %&#$.My Mama suggested that I go to Shalom House (where she'd purchased it for me) and ask them for help. Hanukkiot aren't cheap, so I figured I would start with asking for help before replacing the whole thing.I walked in and while I don't think David, the owner, remembered me exactly (and to be fair, it'd probably been about 15 years since I'd last been in) he definitely knew who my mom was when I described her. We've been Shalom House customers for probably close to 30 years, so that's a lot of Mama's shopping.I showed David the issue, and he very matter-of-factly pointed out that the plug actually had two fuses in it. We took out the fried fuse, and suddenly the hanukkiah lit up. We were still without a shamash though, so he looked at me and said "You don't really want to buy a whole set of replacement bulbs, do you? You just need the one and it doesn't have to match? Give me a minute".He came back with a bulb which he then proceeded to screw into the center and it worked perfectly. I thanked him profusely and asked how much I owed him. He smiled, shook his head, and told me me "Happy Hanukkah. Now go light a hanukkiah".Mensches, the lot of them. And that, my friends, is why we adore this place.”

“Why haven't I known this place earlier! I love all the childrens book, workbooks, flashcards, and etc. I will continue to buy more every year for my students! They are reasonable with the price. Seriously trust me! Places like galleria market book store are too over priced with their toys and books in my opinion. I spent a good $300 at this place and bought so many different types of educational things!”

“Great service! I tried to send a gift certificate to my brother for his birthday through the mail, but it got lost by the post office. With one phone call, they saved the day - cancelled the mailed certificate and emailed him a happy birthday message with it attached. Kind, professional, efficient...the type of service that is hard to find anymore. Highly recommend.”

“Had a wonderful time browsing books at the Taschen location by the LA Farmers Market. It was busy when I was there but Marques made time to talk to me. We talked about what were the bestselling books, for example. Also, how some of the limited edition printings have now skyrocketed in value. I bought a Klimt book - a reminder of my time in Vienna.”

“This store is wonderful and the owner, Alfred is very knowledgeable in all things military and print. I recently relocated my 93 year old father to LA to live with me. My father is a long time military and aviation book collector, rc aircraft enthusiast and fine oil paint aviation artist. Alfred offered a wealth of information on all those subjects and more as we make contacts in Los Angeles to liquidate my father's collections. Thanks Alfred, see you soon!”
