“A westside gem. A wonderful place with friendly expert staff. They have great pets and sound pet advice. They can help everyone from novices to experienced enthusiasts. Can't speak for most of the animals, but their hand fed birds are always really friendly and seem to receive a lot of positive attention. Also, somehow their pricing seems reasonable... Sometimes even more competitive than the big brand pet stores. And as a nice bonus there's usually ample parking.”

“I took my Bernedoodle to Paws and Effect for his very first grooming appointment, and to be honest, I was nervous. First-time groom, big fluffy puppy energy, and the emotional stability of a toddler after 3 Red Bulls? I didn’t know how he’d react but the check in staff was so patient and let me show them photos of how I wanted him to look!
When I picked him up… I almost cried. He looked amazing. Soft, fluffy, perfectly trimmed—but still looking like him. No overly shaved doodle disaster here. He was happy, wagging, and not at all stressed out. They clearly knew how to work with his personality, not just his fur.
I can’t recommend Paws and Effect enough. If you’ve got a doodle (or any dog, really) and want someone who actually cares about your pet’s experience and appearance—go see Kathy!
Four stars only because his mowhawk was a bit uneven but that probably because Benny wouldn’t stay still with the clippers and his nails are a tad too long but maybe that’s just my preference.”

“We brought our labradoodle Foggy here for groomings. We'd had bad experiences at some other spots, but Jayden at the Healthy Spot on Melrose always did an amazing, incredible job with Foggy. He was never traumatized, and always more handsome than ever. We've moved up to Canada and will miss Jayden very much!! She has a special touch with animals and a gentle spirit that Foggy always responded well to. <3”

“I gotta give a HUGE shoutout to the entire staff at this particular Urban Pet location, literally everyone working here is a G. Our dogs love coming by here so much that we have to take different streets to get home sometimes! There are always special treats behind the counter, and a warm welcome every time we stroll in. We come multiple times a week because the vibes are strong and the love for animals is felt. “I called this store to inquire about Bermuda Hay and various products for my tortoise. The young lady who answered the phone (unusual name), was upbeat, and extremely helpful, smart and kind. Centinela F&P didn't have the product I needed and she was great in suggesting other sources when asked. Good and caring customer service is so rare these days and she gave great suggestions on how to solve my problem. This young lady, provided she keeps it up, will go far! Thanks for hiring such a person at Centinela Feed and Pet supplies. She made me think well of this business and I will shop here in the future.”
“Fabulous store! It is jam packed with the healthiest pet care on the market (including several items on Susan Thixton’s 2025 Truth About Pet Food list). It’s also the best place in LA to get quail eggs- frozen raw or dehydrated. My dog cleans his plate at every meal now. :)”
“The BEST dog food ever created! My 10 year old malti-poo gave me the blues for 9 years. No food made her happy or feel well until JFFD! Tummy troubles, loose and nasty poops and the worst staining around her eyes and mouth on went away. She’s the pickiest eater and I don’t have the time or patience to cook her food. She’s been eating JFFD for almost a year and now all she does is run in circles every time she hears her food container from the fridge being opened. Every drop disappears in no time and she begs for more. Vet exams and lab work are always great now!”

“I visited Unleash Petco today and was blown away by the service. Firstly, Erick was very nice and could easily be a vet! My dog was scratched a lot, and I thought it was ticks, but Eric immediately identified it as a heat-related allergy. He recommended the right medication, and my dog is already doing great! Five stars for Erick, hands down!”
“This is the best company I have ever had an experience with!!! Manny is wonderful. I have a 120 gallon reef tank with 19 year old fish. Years ago I purchased my third chiller artica 1/4 hp. The chiller which was not working properly started working so I never opened up the new chiller. Finally the second chiller was not functioning so I opened up the new chiller. Never sent in the warranty which has expired anyway. The new chiller was not working at all. I called my retailer for suggestions and they recommended calling JBJ. I had no hopes that they could help since I have had bad experiences with enterprises in the past. I called, spoke with Manny and he gave me some things to trouble shoot the chiller but it still didn't work. I sent in pictures of the unused chiller and filled out the warranty. They replaced the chiller which I don't need to tell you how much they cost. I sent the unused new chiller back. If I could rate this company 10 or more stars I would. There is a company which stands behind their product and actually does help and doesn't lie.Best experience I have had with a large enterprise.Thank you Manny, you actually do try to make a difference. There should be more people like you”
