“As the author of The Grant Colson Thriller Series and SERA Archives Thriller Series, I always enjoy visiting standout bookstores while traveling, and Barnes & Noble in Manhattan Beach is a super nice location.
The store has a broad, open layout with lower shelving that lets you see across the space, giving it a welcoming and easy-to-navigate feel.
There’s a huge children’s area along with a very nice café space. One detail that stands out is the wraparound mural featuring well-known authors, which adds character and makes the interior feel more engaging.
The overall setup is clean and thoughtfully designed, making it a comfortable place to browse and spend time.
I also spent a few minutes in the romance section while writing The Maui Desire Romance Series, and it’s a well-organized area that fits nicely alongside the thriller shelves.
The staff has been friendly and helpful, and the surrounding shopping center is very well kept with plenty of parking, which makes visiting easy.
Overall, it’s a strong Barnes & Noble in Manhattan Beach with a great layout, inviting atmosphere, and a solid selection.”
“One of the best automotive museums in the world. The collections change often so worth going back a few times per year. Parking is expensive ($21) in the garage.”
“Wowww! What an amazing place! I stopped in on my vacation and had the pleasure to meet Mark! So nice and helpful and knowledgeable! Felt like seeing an old friend again. He helped me to buy a Scalextric BMW 330I and I even got to run a car on one of their beautiful scenic 1/32 scale tracks! Lots of fun! I highly recommend this store because they are HUGE and have every conceivable car and accessory you can think of!”

“Children's Book World has the best selection of children's books anywhere. The staff is so welcoming. Getting up close and personal with authors and illustrators is a privilege. Watching Lisa Yee and Dan Santat banter about their latest book, The Misfits, was a treat. The first pages have me hooked. As soon as I have a cup of java in hand, I'll return to The Misfits. Thanks to Children's Book World for this (and many other) wonderful experience!”
“Mega City One is amazing!! It may not look like much from the outside, but if you love comic books like me, it has mostly EVERYTHING you are looking for to meet your regular comic book fixes!! I've been going to this store for years and they rarely let me down. The owner and JON who's runs the store are incredible and have a wealth full of knowledge. Beyond that, they will go to the extra mile to make sure that your comic book needs are fullfied and you and your needs are fully taken care of. Also, Mega City One far exceeds their closest competition, that "Rotten Apple" place down the street! Forever, for me, Comic Books have always stood for "Truth, Justice and the American Way!" When I visit Mega City One, I feel like I'm stepping into the Daily Planet where hidden greatness can be found. They are so much better than President's Lex Luther's villains lair down the street. Can't recommend Mega City One's excellent customer service enough! They will take care of you and you will NOT ever be disappointed!!”

“This shop is definitely packed full of items, but in practice this means that they likely have what you want in stock! I found that they had several options for all the items I was looking for. I came away with everything I was looking for and more. Notably, they carry packs of disposable diapers at cheap prices, plus cloth diapers! “First off, Oscar is incredible! I went this past Sunday and this was my first experience at a Warhammer store. Man, was it fantastic! I’m VERY new to Warhammer, but I have been into the lore and watching games for a little over a year. I paint minis from hobby boardgames and have been wanting to get into 40k for a while. Not only to paint, but to learn to play the game
Long story short, i bought my first combat patrol (Dark Angles), and I cannot be happier. I was nervous to go in, but was welcomed and made to feel very comfortable. I cannot wait to get further into 40k! Cannot wait to return to this store.

“I'm on the East Coast and this store was the only place I could find a specific set of blocks I wanted for my baby. So glad I took the chance on ordering from them!
Before I even placed my order, they were responsive and helpful over email. My order shipped out quickly, and when it arrived I noticed a few blocks were missing from the set. I reached out, and without any hassle they sent out replacements right away.

“I had a great experience at Children’s Orchard. The clothes I gave up were in perfect status and even though i did not get what I was expecting in return I did get a fair price for most of my items.
I traded a big bag of clothes worth $70-$80 to get a shoulder mount and a bilingual toy. Toys were cheap too and in good shape! I will definitely come back.”

“HYA is a gem in the West Adams neighborhood of L.A. The boutique shop offers a variety of home goods, kitchen supplies (utensils, gadgets, glassware, etc.) games (backgammon, PickUpSticks) books, and more. I visited in mid-December and there were lots of great gift ideas. Prices are reasonable and the staff I interacted with (1 of which was the owner) were very friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic and passionate about HYA. Check out my pics for some great seasonal gift ideas but so many things would make a great gift for any occasion. Also of note is the thoughtful & selection process used to determine what products are available for purchase here. Research ensuring fair-trade and sustainable sourcing, as well as, offerings from underrepresented or marginalized artisans. Also, checkout the back pantry featuring small batch homemade jams!”
“Stopped into Kip’s Toyland and it was honestly super nostalgic in a good way.
Walking in feels like stepping back into the kind of toy stores most people grew up with. Tons of classic stuff, Lincoln Logs, old school board games, dolls, all the things you don’t really see in big box stores anymore. It’s very “remember this?” in the best possible way.
It’s definitely on the expensive side, but that kind of comes with the territory. You’re not really going here for everyday toys, more for something special or a gift that feels a bit more thoughtful.
What stood out most was just how fun it was to browse. Even if you’re not planning to buy much, it’s hard not to stop and look around at everything.
Overall, it’s a great spot if you want something nostalgic or unique. Not cheap, but worth it if you find the right thing.”

“Needed help answering some questions about a baseball player from the early 2000s named Derrek Lee so I called this place. I was super impressed with him knowing about a baseball player from the 90s early 2000s. This baseball players dad played in Japan and he grew up and went to grade school in Japan. I was confused on the regulation and “World Baseball Classic” eligibility and he knew EVERYTHING. I really needed it explained to me, I like to understand the rules and regulations even if I’m not a baseball player or collector. Thanks for helping me understand my retro video game and clarifying that he is in fact able to play for the world baseball classic Team Japan.”
