“A good spot for home decor and quality gems if you’re willing to dig. This is a true thrift store, not a curated boutique, but it’s well organized, which makes browsing easier. They often keep larger furniture pieces near the front entrance (accessed through the main door), and there’s a high-end designer rack worth checking.

A few things to know before you go: don’t bring large bags or backpacks as you’ll be asked to check them in a locker outside, bring cash to avoid the credit card fee, keep an eye on the savings board, and remember it’s no tag, no sale, so check items before checkout.

It can get busy during peak hours, and parking is street-only on a busy road, so timing matters.

Donations: Drop-offs are at the gate on the right side of the store. They also offer donation pickup.

“My boyfriend introduced me to this thrift store and I absolutely love it here, the only downfall is that it's only open twice a week (Fridays and Saturdays)?. Their items are very neatly displayed and reasonably priced. I've found many cool items here and they have a really nice collection of books too. I'm always a happy ☺️ camper when I leave here. The staff here is great too and they usually greet you when you walk in.”

This store was our first choice due to Great selection, cleanliness and the abundant courtesy and friendliness of clerk Jackie. “Some quality items and fair prices but unfortunately this store suffers from “California work ethic,” which basically means: “we’re open when we’re open and closed when we’re closed and the posted hours are just a wild guess.” Be sure to call before going there.”

“Outreach Alliance of Ventura County® (OAVC) is a wonderful community-based non-profit organization that really is making a difference in Ventura County. The people that are involved with OAVC really are making a difference in the lives of children, families, and individuals in need throughout Ventura County. I have been a member for over 7 years and I am amazed at what we have accomplished. Our philanthropic programs and our Bargain Box Thrift Store are all volunteer run. OAVC has has an amazing group of members that have a common goal of helping people in need.”

“This place is truly a treasure hunt. Prices are atypical of a Goodwill type store with some items up to $30-40. There weren't a ton of dresses, but a good selection of pants and tops. Everything was decently organized. They also have donations from brands, so there is some brand new items at a steep discount. The day that I went, there was a huge rack of All Saints brand flared dark denim jeans for less than $20! It's worth checking out if you are in the area.”

“I stop by the Goodwill at 404 East Main St. mainly for clothing, and they always have a nice selection to look through. The quality is there. The presentation stands out and the layout is clean, organized, and easy to browse.

It’s not the cheapest thrift store in Ventura, but you can still come across some worthwhile finds. On this visit, I picked up a couple of shirts and a pair of shorts and felt good about the value. It worked out because the items I liked ended up being on the lower end of their price ranges for items in those categories.

For me, this isn’t a spot where I shop for inventory for my eBay / resale business. I usually don’t come across electronics, furniture, collectibles, tools, or similar items that make sense for resale. They just don’t seem to stock the types of items that work well for my resale business at this location. I mainly focus on clothing, and that’s where this store works well for me.

The main reason I find myself here is the convenience. When I’m walking up and down Main Street, which I do on a semi-regular basis, it’s right there. It’s on the corner location of a nice building with a good ambiance and a true Ventura vibe in the heart of downtown. It's a nice place to stop in and pick up a few things, all while supporting a good cause and the local community.”

“I was honestly hesitant to come in after reading some reviews, but the Tuesday morning crew was honestly great. The guys working were super friendly, patient, and helpful. I was running errands before work and kept forgetting my bags and coming back in, and they were still really nice about it the whole time lol.

Just know they carefully curate their inventory, so don’t have the expectation that they will buy everything you bring in- although im sure it can happen. They did buy a few things from me, and I was happy with the store credit amount. If you choose cash, you receive 25% of what they’ll price the item at. Overall, really positive experience and I’ll definitely be back to shop.”

“One of my favorite places to shop in Ventura. I’m a picker, collector, and online/eBay seller, and I consistently find cool items here at reasonable prices that I can enjoy and/or resell, along with plenty of clothes that I personally wear.

The selection is always solid, and I really appreciate how well everything is organized by size (not all thrift stores do this). It makes shopping so much easier. Great deals, good organization, and a place I truly enjoy coming back to.

Like anywhere, not everything here is a deal right away, and some items can be priced higher at first. I’ve also noticed that when things don’t sell, they get marked down over time, which I really appreciate.

I understand it can be frustrating when something you want is more than you’d like to pay, but that’s true at estate sales, swap meets, auctions—pretty much everywhere. The key is being patient and knowing how to shop.

Overall, they’re an important part of the community, a place that’s been here for years and stayed consistent. It’s always been one of my favorite spots to shop in downtown Ventura.”
