Amanda, the owner, curates a beautiful selection of cards, jewelry, art pieces, and trinkets – there's always something special for everyone on my list. Last weekend, I dashed into MindfulNest in a last-minute card frenzy, only to realize I'd left my wallet at home. I explained my predicament to Amanda, hoping she'd put the card on hold for me. I observed how the owner walked with my brother towards the books and probably explained to him what the book was for. It took me a while to read the Siddur. The store is cash only, so make sure to come prepared.”
“I went here to find a gift for a holiday gift exchange. My first visit I was thrilled to find a curated selection of products from books, to notecards, jewelry, candles, bath salts and lotions, to name just a few. The broad selection made it easy to find gifts, and the clerks were very helpful. You can get up to three gifts gift-wrapped for free, and she did an amazing job. Stronly recommend - this store is a gem!”

“After Necromance, sadly, closed their brick and mortar shop, there was a brief period in time where their combination of taxidermy and Victoriana was no where to be seen. I'm a big fan of Gold Bug in Pasadena, but they are not quite as "dark" in their aesthetic. Memento Mori, on the other hand, feels like a pretty good replacement. So, what are you going to find here? Well, as you may have guessed from my intro, taxidermy. The classic boars and deer heads preserved as wall ornaments...but also delicate butterflies beautifully arranged under glass domes. While no where near as extensive a collection of preserved animal parts as Necromance, there still is a decent collection, particularly for decor. Memento Mori also lacks the strong mothball smell that permeated the aforementioned store. There is a large collection of silver jewelry incorporating classic taxidermy elements, such as glass eyes. And lots of trinkets for those of a "gothic" aesthetic. They also carry a number of very comfortable tshirts bearing variations of their logo, one of which currently hangs in my closet. Memento Mori also appears to serve as a gothic community center: they always have flyers and posters advertising events such as Endless Night, a vampire-themed ball, or gothic-themed fairs for artisans. So, definitely worth a visit if your aesthetics or predilections lean to the darker side of life.”

“For years this shop was originally on second street. It was fully supplied with items for the kitchen, dining, and other Japanese items. This shop is much smaller, no room to roam around like the other shop, where you could ogle and awe at wares. The owner of this shop is helpful. They have an adequate selection of ikebana vessels from Japan unlike anywhere else in LA. The prices are average considering import costs. Overall this shop is an important mainstay in the Japanese community.”

They have some hard to find specimens and many pieces are museum grade quality. Magnifique! They have a crystal to fit in everyone's budget.
