“Nice store piled high with useful stuff on top of the shelves and racks. Pleasant staff, not a horse store but a few horse things are there. Has pipes, outdoor digging tools, light bulbs, number stickers, signs, seeds, home kitchen stuff, clocks, heater filters, less power tools and indoor gadgets.”

“I was pointed to this place back when I was tinkering with cars and wheels before yelp was even around. Last I remember I bought nuts and bolts for a set of my Japanese 2pc wheels and they had the exact same ones I needed and in stainless steel. Super happy to walk out of there knowing I have in hand what was the missing pieces to complete my restoration.. FF 15 years later and Im happy to see that they are still up and running. Will need a flange nut and I hope to come by again soon..”

“Can’t believe I found this place only recently after living in the Bay Area for a long time. It’s easy to miss because you are either busy driving down route 1, or, after a long curvy road and just can’t wait to hit the beach. This place is a great place to drop by - for a nice drink or bites (the best breakfast braid made by la Honda bakery, available only on Saturday and Sunday), or books from local authors, or even children’s book. They have amazing live band sessions too, it’s just a great place to hang out.”

“The staff members are friendly and knowledgeable with great problem solving skills, especially Loren!! I was looking for a replacement for one worn screw. A young staff first helped to identify the thread and size of the old screw, but was not able to find the exact matching screw in the store. He wrote down the information for me and suggested I try search online. On my way out, Loren saw me and asked me if I got help that I needed. After I told him that it appeared the store didn't carry the exact type of screw that I was looking for, he offered to take another look. He patiently asked me what and where the old screw was used, listened to me explaining. He then identified a screw that may work, although not identical to the old one. He told me that if it doesn't work, I can go to another store that may carry more national brand screws, and if I still could not find the matching one, I then could back to ACE and he could make a customized cut screw. I bought the one (only cost $0.49!) suggested by Loren that may work, and I went home and it worked and solved the problem!”

“Went in for some CO2 and Helium. JR was extremely helpful and fair. Much better place for customer service than Air Gas. I'll definitely go back when I run out.”

“The manager was very patient while helping me. I went to this hardware store with a unique plumbing challenge. Needed hardware and water supply tubing for a commercial ice maker. The existing fittings were male compression. Super patient, excellent customer service, and went way beyond reasonable expectations helping me find what I needed.”

“If you've spent a couple decades without a local lumberyard, what a breath of fresh air this crew is. I was looking uncertainly at plywood when a guy finished with another customer, asked what I was looking for, and then *said they could cut the wood for me*. I almost cried with relief. As is common with vendors that thrive on commercial customers, none of the wood has prices on it. I paid maybe a bit less than a box store, but for beautiful 1/2" sanded plywood: not only did they have it right there, but I didn't even have to go through the stack to find something that wasn't terrible. I'm more than happy to drive the extra 10 miles to shop here.”

“The guy at the counter was extremely helpful. He looked up what I was looking for and showed me exactly where it was. The price for this difficult to find synko exterior patch was cheaper than the Internet. I will be back.”

“If you have no other reason to go- this *feels* like a hardware store. I know when I say this I am speaking to a very specific subset of people. However, when I was a kid, my dad would take me with him to the hardware store, and I would get a lollypop while he and whomever from behind the counter would wander around looking for an eyebolt or the right shade of caulk. Giulio- who I assume is the owner, is easily 10 years older than my mom, who lives in the assisted living up the street. My mom can't be bothered to go to the chair yoga we're paying for, but Giulio went to work. He's not totally mobile, but he knows his s#!t. Whenever I come in, he or whoever else is behind the counter is happy to chat through my issue and suggest something. It's not a Home Depot- so they may not have what you're looking for every time- but they have a lot of things, and it makes me happy to know my money is staying local. Also, side story: One day during the summer, it's like 90, and I am behind a contractor who's getting a bunch of stuff - lumber, rocks...I don't know- but he's paying for it, and he grabs some water bottles for him and his crew and puts them on the counter. Giulio totals him up and says a number; the guy says, "Oh, don't forget these waters". Giulio says, "The town where I come from in Italy has the best water in the world, and it flows right off the mountain. If my father knew I was charging people for water, he'd come back from the dead and strike me down. Those are free." C'mon. How can you not go here first?”

“Giving my shoutout to Jake. Thank you so much for your help in the gardening section!! He went above and beyond to help me with my visit today from making my section of a fruit tree to carrying the heavy soil to my car. There's a closer Ace where I live, but it's not as friendly as this location. I would definitely make my way down here again for my gardening needs.”

“First time into the shop. Someone quickly offered to help, found exactly what I needed, and got it into my car in under 20 minutes. HD and Lowes didn't have these items and the internet was more expensive and would have taken longer. It's great to have a local small business to support.”

“PV Hardware is the general store for Portola Valley. It has a bit of everything and is a reliable place for your hardware needs. The staff is friendly and the prices are good, especially for this town. It’s just a bit small and the selection can be a bit limited.”

“Had to stop by Woodcraft to pick up some items my dad had pre-purchased. Also had to pick up some smaller wood pieces for a project. Charlie's customer service was great! He was very helpful. The store has a great selection. Thanks again!”

“I worked with Demarcus Harris who helped me with a warrenty replacement on a 40 Gallon water heater (cal-steam did not sell me the original one). He was awesome! He also set me up with an awesome plumber Pedro D. to do the warranty replacement install. It all went very smoothly. Also, when I was at store it seemed like all the employees were kind, knowledgable, and having fun! I would definitely recommend working with Cal-Steam in redwood city.”

“I've been coming to this store for the better part of 2 decades now. Whether you're a simple weekend warrior like me or you do it for a living, this is the place to be. If its tool related and you need anything going from a screwdriver to a portable table saw to a new lathe for your shop, maybe a bandsaw, go. If you don't see what you need, ask. I've never stumped anyone there with a question. Give yourself some extra time if you've never been because chances are you'll be there longer than you expected once you start walking around. Yes, I read a few reviews here and all I can say is, don't listen to the guy whining about $89 diagonals. If you know tools and you know quality of tools, there is no better place and prices are definitely reasonable and competitive. I just picked up a Festool cordless 55 saw, i was not expecting to pay those Harbor Freight or HD Ryobi prices for it. Maybe don't buy that rechargeable screwdriver either, expecting to get what a 10v cordless driver gives you. There's a tool for everything and these guys seem to have it all. If they don't, chances are they can get it. If they can't, they will tell you where you can. I'll definitely keep going back and like i said, if you haven't been- go.”

“I’ve used Bayshore recently due to a house project for lights and replacing an older sink part. Great attentive service no matter how much I spent and willing to go the extra mile to help me get a part one day by staying after closing time. I’ll be using them much more in the future.”
