The Kimpton Hotel Monaco Denver is a historic and attractive hotel in a very convenient downtown location. It is within easy walking distance of many restaurants, bars, shopping, theaters, and Union Station. The hotel receives consistent praise for its friendly, helpful, and attentive staff. The rooms are described as classic, grand, spotless, and of high quality, requiring no updates. Dining options, including happy hour and nightcaps, are considered amazing with wonderful food and delicious coffee. However, significant and repeated concerns are noted regarding a very strong, offensive smell in the main lobby, described by multiple guests as resembling a public restroom, pet feces, or urine. This odor is reported as overwhelming upon entry and can permeate the adjacent restaurant, impacting the dining experience. Guests also highlight an amenity fee and an additional, unexpected pre-authorization hold on funds at check-in, which can be substantial. Other noted drawbacks include the lack of in-room coffee, occasional Wi-Fi issues, some rooms being small without bathroom towel hooks, and conference spaces hampered by columns. The surrounding downtown area has many vagrants, requiring caution when walking. Despite its many positives, these factors lead some guests to consider choosing a different property in the future.
Food and dining options are amazing, and I love the European influenced culture at this hotel. The rooms speak for itself as grand and doesn't need any updates for a couple of years! Every part of the room is spotless and high quality! I recommend Kimpton Hotels.

Nice older hotel. Clean rooms. Excellent shower in the room. Bed comfortable. They even brought me a house plant to keep me company. Recommend this one especially for downtown business.
