“My husband passed just over a month ago. He decided to use the medical aide in dying program. We worked with David the TRU social worker and he helped us through the process and it was clear what the next steps were and what we needed to do. He checked in on us as his family to make sure that we were coping okay afterwards and offered us some grief support. I can't say enough good things about the hospice nurse Haley. She and David stayed with us through the whole process and made sure that we were taken care of. My husband was very fond of her. She is the sweetest, most loving human. We also had support from some volunteers, a CNA (I think Laura), and Elise (a TRU chaplain). We are not religious, but she the chaplain was happy to just be with him and listen to some of his favorite music together. This was a difficult time and the process was at times difficult to navigate, but they were amazing advocates for my husband.”
