We unknowingly entered his store just as he was about to close but he kept his store open for us and explained the many different items he had for sale, and then shared his own recipes with us! Mr. Chávez is a true gem with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and his store is a well-stocked delight.”

“Jack's Market is the go-to grocery store with most of the locals in La Jara, CO. My first visit ever was on 9/3/2023. While I wasn't blown away by this smallish place, it was a nice store. Not bizarrely expensive. Here's a few items we bought: - Butter pecan ice cream tub $4.59 - Russet potatoes (3-lbs) $1.99 - Bbq sauce $1.59 The lady who checked us out was friendly and funny. Large, "seedless" watermelons were on sale $4.98 each. They and the rest of the produce looked decent. I was able to slake my thirst that warm afternoon with some good bottles sweet tea out of Amarillo, TX, called Panhandle Pure ($1.09). Western Union is available here. There used to be a lady who would sell her homemade tamales here out of her car. I sure wish she would come back!”

“HORRIBLE BURGERS AND WORSE FRIES! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! if you ever have them, you will see what I mean. Local beef? Ew. Local potatoes hand cut into steak style fries? Grooooosss. If you drive by and the parking spots are full, count yourself lucky. Jeez...now I gotta go pick up some lunch.... I better not see you there.”
