“I drove 40 minutes one way after seeing a post on Facebook about this places sandwiches. I didn’t even know they had sandwiches. Heck, until today I didn’t even differentiate them from the other baked ham company. I have at least an hour drive back home and I would do it all over again tomorrow too.
Upon entering this place, I was warmly greeted by John and the young gal behind the counter. The place looks the same as it did in 1986 when they opened (I wasn’t born until the 90’s so I’m guessing) but the faded silk floral decor really hit home. The tables all had adorable Valentine’s Day arrangements on them too. Anyways, don’t let the ambiance turn you away.
I ordered a ham to make my own ham salad and ordered the most simple yet delicious bratwurst sandwich. They make everything they sell here less the potato chips and the salami and it shows— I haven’t had a brat like this since my last trip to Germany. Juicy, tender, full of flavor. Great kraut. Tasty provolone. Brown mustard hit just right and the bread— oh my god the bread. Crisp outside, soft but strong enough to support the contents of the sandwich. Simple but perfect.
I got chips and a pickle and I still think I was under $15. I don’t think you can get a sandwich at snarfs for less than $15 and this was bigger than their large size. Potato salad was also delicious and they make their own homemade beans which I’ll have to try on my next trip.
We must keep these businesses open! I hope this review inspires others to check it out. They have been open 40 freaking years!!”
“Mark and the crew are just the best! And on top of that, their ground beef is so so SO good! They even offered to special order some organ meats for me that are hard to find in the area. Love this place and definitely going back!”
