“This discount store has approximately 19,000 stores in the US and Mexico. It is headquartered in Tennessee and founded in 1939 as JL Turner and Son. They had a name change to Dollar General since 1955.
Dollar General sells a wide variety of items such as home decor, clothing, cleaning supplies, and many more. This store in Barkhamstead is very similar like the other stores. It is well stocked and for the most part, organized. What I noticed in most DGs, there are always items waiting to be stocked on the end of aisles.
This one was pretty busy on the day we went because it was the Sunday before Christmas; I assume people were doing last minute shopping like we were doing too. They had many seasonal items and prices were affordable, as their name holds a reputation for that. This is also the first DG that I've seen two cashiers working; I think because there was a long line. Overall, a standard DG with discounted items. It's definitely a popular store and I understand why.”
“Friday sausage and peppers, Excellent!!
The meat loaf sandwich was awesome!!
Parking: Across the street they have plenty of parking
Wheelchair accessibility: Have ramp.”
“I love this grocery store! Family owned, always accommodating and offers great quality of foods with many options. The only suggestion I have for management is to offer a secure app for your delivery, as you may get more customers. I know I would opt for delivery, but I'm not comfortable Ieaving my credit card on a voicemail.”
“This Aldi is clean and well stocked. The workers are very friendly and helpful, especially the workers who prepare the pick up orders. I appreciate them very much!”
“Great for warm delicious soup. One of the best clam showder I've ever had. Yummy ?!. Geissler's has changed. Now it's all renovated , very organized , super awesome !”
“I had some issues getting my account sorted out and went over to customer service for help. Aiden helped me, and he was super kind and pleasant the whole time. He made the process really easy and was great to talk to. I definitely recommend this Big Y. it’s well stocked and has good deals usually.”
“Such a cozy shop with a wide variety of British snacks, beverages, royal-themed tchochkies and other handpicked goods. The owners are lovely and straight from the UK, making every visit feel so incredibly authentic I feel like I'm back in London. And let us not forget that gorgeous classic red phone booth right out front.
Can't wait to come back for one of their tea party experiences.”
“Stopped in the new Big Y in Simsbury and what a beautiful store! It's set up like there store in Great Barrington,Ma. Very well done. Great customer service!!!”
“Absolutely wonderful people and amazing foods. Grass fed meats, breads and cookies that just melt in your mouth, fresh fruits and vegetables locally and responsively grown.”
“The story of the country store dates back from the mid-1800s. It primarily revolves around the cheese and how the recipe hasn't changed for over 150 years. I can tell you one thing for certain, that's some of the best cheese I've ever had. Definitely recommend putting it on a grinder and getting a toasted cold cut combo with the cheddar. It has to be the best grinder I have ever experienced. Easy 5 stars for this gem.”
“? The Fresh Market is always an exceptional experience. From the moment you walk in, the vibrant displays of fresh produce catch your eye — everything looks beautifully arranged and truly top quality. Their cuts of meat are consistently excellent, making it a go-to for special dinners or just everyday meals you want to elevate.
The selection of artisan foods is a foodie’s dream come true: gourmet cheeses, specialty spreads, freshly baked breads, and unique treats you won’t find in your typical grocery store. And I have to mention their pizza — honestly one of the best grocery store pizzas I’ve ever had, with a crust that bakes up perfectly and generous, flavorful toppings.
Whether you’re shopping for staples, putting together an elegant charcuterie board, or simply treating yourself, The Fresh Market never disappoints. It’s truly a pleasure to shop there every time.”
“Whole Foods in Avon is my favorite place to shop. The staff are all super friendly and knowledgeable. I've learned how to properly pick a watermelon as well as gotten ideas on how to cook protein.”
“Clean store and friendly staff! The staff go above and beyond in terms of friendliness. The store itself is large and well organized. I am giving 4/5 stars because the store does not have a gluten free section like other locations (specifically the Big Y in West Hartford). While they have gluten free tags next to the prices, there’s not one spot where gluten free stuff is kept. It makes it more difficult and time consuming to shop. After speaking with a staff member, it seemed to be a common request customers had. I am hopeful the store will create a gluten free section (even a small one) as it is incredibly helpful for people who have celiac/ gluten allergy/ intolerance.”
“Are you stuck in a rut in the kitchen trying to make healthy food?
If so, the answer is to get a Dietitian to help you out, and you can do so for free !!!
The 5 Star rating for Shope Rite of Canton was given because of the value provided by my no-cost appointment with this store's Dietitian, Hannah Dipanfilo.
As a recent retiree who's trying to stay in shape, I was very pleased that a short session with Ms Hannah provided me with easy, helpful ideas on menus that fit my caloric needs...and my lack of desire to spend a lot of time in the kitchen !
Do yourself a favor and do as I did - go see the Dietitian Hannah Dipanfilo at Shop Rite of Canton !”
“One of the best looking DGs I've been to. The curb appeal was also pretty. When I went on a Sunday, it was pretty quiet. I try to go on Saturdays because you can use their $5 coupon. From what I saw, the shelves were pretty organized and clean. I did notice some employees stocking the shelves; hence the pile of items waiting to be unloaded on the aisles. They had a mix and match, buy one get one 50% off aisle that was disorganized. We bought two items and didn't get the second one 50% off. We read the fine print regarding which items were excluded but since the aisle was disorganized, we weren't sure if it was truly part of the sale. I think they should keep all items that were on this particular sale promotion in one spot so it's easy to find; items not part of the sale should be separated.Overall, it is one of my favorite stores and I'm glad that there is one close to me.”
“The Stop and Shop in Granby is a great place to shop for groceries. They have a vast selection of everything, and I was able to find the brand of coffee creamer I was looking for. The prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this store to anyone looking for groceries in the area.”
“Fun fact: Stop and Shop (in Rhode Island) was my first job as a teenager; it's come a long way since then.
They now offer employee discount and a higher starting wage. This particular S&S is really new and high-tech looking. They have better self scan systems and handheld self scanners. I recommend using the self scanners to save on time; just make sure you have a stop and shop card. The self scan kioks were a little finicky but once you're used to it, it runs smoothly; they have security in place and alerts the employees of any issues. The employees at the self checkouts were very helpful. They still have the S&S card, you can easily sign up at the service desk or online, to get sale items. If you don't have a card, just ask the employee to scan one for you.
The service provided by the other employees there on our recent trip was good; deli and seafood counters specifically. The aisles were organized and fully stocked; the prices were average to above average (it's no Aldi). My kids were very entertained by the robot roaming around! (And so were we) We surely didn't have that back in the early 2000's; we've come a long way with technology. Parking was plentiful and when we went (Friday evening) it was quiet. This has become my new favorite Stop and Shop!”
“Worst restaurant ever. There an entire Isle of raw meat, nothing was cooked. Terrible menu, no one greeted us or seated us. We walked around aimlessly waiting to be seated. Nothing here is made fresh, there were endless isle's of frozen prepared food. Couldn't even buy beer past 9pm.....what kinda bar is this. Bring back IGA.”
“Fresh and flavorful grinders and rolls at pleasant valley impressed me. The ingredients were top-notch, bursting with taste. The variety on the menu catered to different preferences, and the portions were generous. Friendly service and a cozy atmosphere added to the enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommended.??”
