“I like this location a lot. Its a small location but it always has what we need. I have used it many times. The people are very nice. The parking location for the trailers is down the hill in a semi secluded location. The trailer parking lot is a little tight but doable.”
“On 6/28/2025 I went to this U-haul store at1685 Dixwell Avenue in Hamden, CT. 06514, and was greeted with the best customer service that I've had in a very long time. General Manager Ricky Mcdonald went far and beyond to make sure that my cooking event proceeded without any problems. Some months ago a friend purchased me a brand new propane tank that I chose not to fill at the time of purchase. Well on the said date above I went to purchase some propane and fill the new tank. While attempting to fill this new tank Ricky and I realized that this tank had a defect with it and my day felt ruined. Well Ricky Mcdonald made my day by supplying me with 2 borrowed filled tanks to use as he promised to order me a replacement new tank. I applaud the U-Hal center for hiring this young man and allowing him to show how a Manager can really help out during tough times that might be out of your control. Thank you Ricky Mcdonald and U-Haul for your love and excellent customer service skills.”

“I had such a good experience here that I wanted to be sure to leave a review. I think Rich was the gentleman that helped me and my boyfriend with a truck/dolly return. I had had an incredibly negative experience with the Budget location in Lexington KY for my one way rental that I was fully expecting the same terrible customer service from all locations. This location at Tripps was exceptional and helped me understand my receipt before I left the location. He clarified the policy on deposits and I left feeling really good about my experience there. Super helpful. I'll never use Budget again, but I would feel very comfortable going to him with other business as he seems very honest and straightforward. Thank you for your excellent customer service.”

“Yesterday I was driving a U-Haul trailer from Massachusetts to Virginia, and the trailer lights went out. we stopped at U-Haul Waterbury Downtown, and the young lady behind the desk stopped what she was doing and helped us assess the problem. They don’t work on trailers at this location, so she then directed me to the U-Haul in Naugatuck where they may be able to help me. They did; and I’m appreciative of her assistance in assessing and assisting with the situation.”

“I needed a trailer hitch with wiring installed on my wife's Bronco Sport, and it was a GREAT experience at U-Haul of Waterbury.
Every single person I interacted with -- from the woman who took my call and made my appointment, to the folks who were at the counter at check in, to Matt who did the actual install -- were all A+. He's fantastic and did a solid job on the hitch. His choice of music while working is also great. =) (I waited on their comfy couch and could faintly hear through the wall).
There are not many places where every person is genuinely friendly and kind.
The location itself is in a good spot, and there is a generous amount of trucks and trailers to rent (which I've done once from this location in the past -- great experience there, too).
There is a TON of helpful things available for purchase inside -- from boxes of all sizes and styles, to packing material, hand trucks, various trailer hitch accessories, etc.
I highly recommend this location if you need a hitch installed, or if you need to rent a truck or trailer.”
“I was not expecting much after having a terrible experience at penske, but was very pleasantly surprised. Very quick service at pick up and drop off. Eli was great and had my drop off processed in under 5 min. Only problem was that he was too fast and I had to wait for the wife to come rescue me, I thought it would take longer. Truck was as expected: decent condition and operation. I'll be back to this location again”

“My son got into an accident on prospect/Naugatuck line. Local police called ace auto since they were next on tow rotation. 3 cars needed to be towed they showed up with 2 wreckers and a flat bed. Since my sons car is rear wheel drive with front end damage they put it on dollies. As a former wrecker operator myself I do understand police tows, state rates, and additional cost and was ready for a whopper of a bill for it to be towed from Naugatuck to Wolcott. Not only did they not try and take me for a ride, they were professional and polite. Will use again! Quality family owned and operated business...A big thank you to Eric for a job well done!”
