“The old 'Higganum Feed' was a dump and the people working the same sort you'd encounter at an inner city auto shop. The place is under new management which clearly takes pride in the appearance of the place and the gentleman behind the counter is friendly and helpful. Give it a try and you'll see for yourself. “There are two True Value stores at almost equal distances from my house: Killingworth and Country Paint and Hardware in North Branford. Both stores are well-stocked, and I can almost always get what I need at either one. Floor staff at both are friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. The difference is at the checkout stand. At Country, the cashiers will greet you with "Hi, how are you today? Did you find everything you needed?" They will then ring up your purchases and, at the last, politely ask for your phone number for the rewards program. But at Killingworth, without making eye contact or any greeting, the two usual cashiers bark "Phone number?" and engage you no further. Once you're done, you pick up your things and say to them, "Thanks, have a good day." They don't respond because they are barking at the next customer, "Phone number?" Leaves a bad impression. It takes so little to make a good one.”
