Bulfinch's 1796 brick block sits in the middle of downtown traffic, which is part of the charm and part of the noise. Inside, the Senate is back to Federal plaster and the Representatives' chamber is Victorian wood; a docent on the tour kept us from mixing up the two. I had a wonderful visit at the Old CT State House . The tour guide Heidi was amazing . She was knowledgeable thorough and patient . Her knowledge extended beyond the old CT statehouse to the history of Hartford. I will be back !

I enjoyed looking around inside the building of where the legislature of Connecticut and the executive branch of the CT government used to meet. It was interesting that Connecticut used to have two state capitals, and they turned part of downstairs to a museum with some exhibits that is child-friendly.
