“I have a 2014 Subaru Outback with 180,000 miles on it.
The check engine came on, and I took the car to a Subaru dealership. They let me know that the code was 2763 which indicates a problem in the transmission valve body.
They told me I had to replace the entire transmission for close to $7,000 versus around $2,000 for the valve body. I thought that was excessive and wanted to get a second opinion and took my car to Portland Automotive.
Portland Automotive thoroughly diagnosed the problem and confirmed that one of the valves was bad in the valve body and said I had to replace the valve body only.
They replaced the valve body in a timely manner, but unfortunately, when I got home, the check engine came back on and now there was a noticeable problem with the transmission.
I called Mike at Portland Automotive and he immediately said he’s going to send a tow truck to pick up my vehicle and take it back to the shop and make it right. Unfortunately, on the way back to Portland Automotive on the tow truck something happened to the radiator which caused it to start leaking.
Instead of charging me for a new radiator, they replaced it at no charge. They also redid the entire valve body repair and tested the car for three days to make sure everything was OK.
I’m happy to report as of now it is running smoothly.
I would highly recommend Portland Automotive for standing by their work and their honest evaluation of my transmission problem.”

“Absolutely great service from the guys at SAF-T. I have been looking for a reliable automotive repair shop in Wallingford since moving up here. I was previously told by the Honda dealership that I had cracked lower control arm bushings. I brought it to SAF-T, along with some other squealing noises that I have been hearing. They did an in-depth inspection and let me know that there was no issues with the bushings at all. The did however find a valve cover leak. Absolutely great communication and had my car turned around the same day. There is a reason why this place has almost 500 5 star reviews. I won’t take my cars anyplace else from now on. They have won me over with fair pricing, honesty, and communication.”

“Earlier this year, my 2016 Acura RDX was over 90K miles, and I started looking for a place that could replace my timing belt when the time came. I called a number of places, but none of them wowed me. A friend who's only owned Acuras and Hondas recommended I call Absolute. As it happened, my front end started clunking suddenly, and I suspected it might have to do with the CV joints or something similar. I made an appointment after talking with Travis and brought the car in. Since I was traveling for a few days then undergoing some surgery which would incapacitate me for a few more, I asked Travis to diagnose / fix the front end and do the timing belt, too, since I wasn't going to use it for a while. And he had the flexibility to work on it as their schedule allowed over about 10 days. I picked it up, and it felt solid again. It wasn't a CV joint but sway bar links, and Travis explained that they use a considerably less expensive part than Acura OEM, but it's the same quality. I really appreciated that. I don't know that I've been excited by a car repair before, but this felt very different to me, and I sincerely appreciated what they did.”

“Bought a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer from these folks in an emergency situation in March, 2021. Three years later, the car is paid for, and is very reliable and dependable for me. In December, I parked the vehicle at home one evening and suddenly could not get the key out of the column. I took the bottom cover of the column off to use the manual button to remove key. The next day, the check engine light came on and gave me a transmission shift solenoid code. The internet told me to change the transmission and fluid - good thing I did as it was clearly overdue - but the light came back on. The internet told me to replace transmission shift solenoids, so I replaced three of those. The light still came back on. Based on all the very good reviews I see here, I took my Trailblazer back to them. They pinpointed the issue as a blown fuse #47 and replaced that, and also noted that front wheel bearings were shot, so they replaced those as well. The vehicle is running great now and I do appreciate the detailed report they gave me, as we need to see whether that same fuse blows again. Fuse #47 controls the anti-theft system, the shift (key) lock and the transmission solenoids. We are hoping that one of the solenoids, which I had already replaced, was the cause of the blown fuse. The repairs were diagnosed and made quickly and the final bill was entirely reasonable and fair. Five stars!”
