The Novella is a well-maintained, comfortable apartment building located near downtown, surrounded by many great places to eat. The location offers easy access to a variety of dining options, whether for a fancy meal or a quick bite. The apartments are spacious with thoughtfully designed rooms that allow for comfortable furniture placement and separate living and dining spaces. The finishes are standard for a mid-rise luxury building, featuring large windows that bring in plenty of natural light. However, the large south- and east-facing windows can cause significant heat gain, making the apartments very hot in summer and sometimes too cold in winter. The apartments come with flimsy metal blinds and basic fixtures, with some issues like weak flush toilets and low water pressure in showers. The floors are coated with a shiny varnish that shows scuff marks easily and can be slippery when wet, which may require upgrades for better durability. Parking can be challenging due to the absence of guest spots and narrow spaces that are difficult to navigate. The management team is highly praised for being professional, helpful, and quick to respond to any maintenance needs. Overall, residents enjoy living at The Novella, citing the management, location, and spacious apartments as key benefits.
I’ve lived at Novella for about three years, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to move to downtown New Haven. The new property management has made a huge difference! Jamie and the team really take the time to listen and address any issues in the building quickly. Overall, I strongly recommend this building.
