“The kindness, patience and the professionalism of the staff at Hopmeadow Animal Hospital always amazes me. Especially because they have such a relentlessly stressful job. I have been going to Hopmeadow with my pets for 40 years. Over the years it has been so wonderful to work with such great staff and I have always had positive experiences with my dogs and cats. On my recent visit, with a very challenging ( formerly feral) cat my boyfriend and I were awed by the patience, kindness and professionalism that the staff showed in treating Izzy. Sally , the cat whisperer , Chrissy , Kat and Dr. Michelle Fiorella were truly amazing and so knowledgeable about the best and kindest way to deal with a stressed cat. What we thought would be a disaster ended up being a moving experience for us where Izzy was able to be checked over and we were able to see Sally , Chrissy, Cat, and the Doctor Fiorella in action - they were all so incredibly kind , patient and knowledgeable. I am grateful that they are always there for my pets . The staff are all hard working , dedicated to animals and take the time to be supportive and patient. So although going to the vet can be a very stressful experience especially when your pets are ill. I feel like I am in the best hands possible when at Hopmeadow. I also like the conservative approach they take . They don't rush to treatment they are judicious in their approach to treatment. Anyway, I do recommend the practice and am happy that they are there to care for pets. So thanks to all the staff I hope they understand how important their role is to so many Pet Parents and how their dedication to the animals is appreciated.”

“We have taken both of our dogs to Roaring Brook and the staff is always fantastic. We have utilized them for both vet and boarding services, and the dogs have always been well cared for. Took our dog in for a routine annual check-up today and the bill was $573, which is the highest vet bill I have ever paid for a check-up, by far. Did a little digging and Roaring Brook is now ultimately owned by Private Equity, which is ruining the cost of everything in the country right now. Not sure there is anywhere to hide at this point from PE, but just wanted to highlight why the cost of care is now so out-of-control. The five stars is for the staff and the care. I wish there was a subsequent rating you could give for ownership structure of businesses.”

“We cannot say enough wonderful things about the care our senior dog Grover received at Animal General, especially from Dr. Haley Guhn-Knight. Dr. Haley was compassionate, knowledgeable, and truly listened to all of our concerns. She always took the time to explain everything in a way we could understand and made sure we felt informed every step of the way. I have honestly never met a veterinarian more invested in their patient. Even during her personal time, she would respond to emails and send us studies and information regarding the infectious disease that unfortunately took Grover’s life. She also went above and beyond to make Grover comfortable during his exams — getting down on the floor with him, laying out yoga mats and blankets, and treating him with so much kindness and dignity. Although we ultimately had to say goodbye to Grover, we are so grateful for everything Dr. Haley did for him and for our family during such a difficult time. Thank you, Dr. Haley, for everything you did for Grover. We will never forget it”

“I had an excellent experience here and was incredibly impressed with the entire team. Everyone was accommodating, kind, and genuinely helpful. There are quite a few people involved throughout the process, but what really stood out was how well they all communicate with one another. Everything felt coordinated, and I never felt like I had to repeat information or figure out who knew what. The surgery was done impeccably, and the original quote was right on the mark — no surprises or hidden fees. I especially appreciated Dr. Leshem’s straightforward, upfront demeanor. He is clearly very skilled at what he does, but he is also personable and took the time to explain everything and answer my questions. I also felt that the pricing was more than fair, and he even found a few ways to help me out where he could, which I truly appreciated. This is exactly the kind of personal attention that is becoming harder to find with large corporate veterinary chains. This will absolutely be my new go-to emergency veterinary practice, and I’ve already shared the recommendation with my neighbors. Hopefully we won’t need emergency veterinary care again anytime soon, but it is such a relief to know that this level of quality, skill, and compassion is right in the neighborhood.”

“A few weeks ago I posted asking about ACL surgery for dogs. In The course of discussion Leshem surgical in Canton was recommended many times. Six weeks out and I can report that the healing is going well and I highly recommend Leshem. There were no surprises. It cost exactly what they said it would cost and Molly has healed at Exactly the rate they said. Of course, carrying a 70 pound labrador up three stories of stairs for the last six weeks has not been fun but apparently I've got in shape too. The lab was only six years old so the surgery or something I felt I had to do. I highly recommend Lehmen. Straight shooters with no nonsense, no sugarcoating. Just medical facts. I must say I was amazed the dog was walking the next day. The only challenge was keeping her calm for the 10 weeks of healing.”

“We have been coming here for years. The office has always been very responsive, willing to answer questions, and able to fit us in within a timely manner. We have a nervous dog who can be reactive. This is not the first vet office to manhandle our boy, but it is the first to insist on a muzzle. We assumed these were things we simply had to expect with our growly barky man. The care has always been efficient, although perhaps not always compassionate. I am leaving this review because I never expected that my reactive pup could ever have a positive visit to a vet. Dr. Walker showed me otherwise. This was our first time meeting her, as she's a relatively new addition, and she is quite literally wonderful: she entered the room slowly, gave my dog space, and spent at least the first 5 minutes down on the floor with him to build his comfort and confidence. She did not rush us. There were no muzzles. There was no growling or barking. She let me hold him during his vaccinations and gave me clear instructions on how to do so properly. Dr. Walker, thank you so very much for your genuine care, and for showing me that it is possible to find a compassionate vet for my sweet albeit nervous boy. You are in the absolutely right field.”

“My mom’s cat was experiencing rapid weight loss and we made appt because we knew they had an emergency vet there as well. Dr Costello treated Blue Kitty for hyperthyroidism and he’s on the mend! I recommend her due to her dedication and empathy toward our unusual circumstances, as my mom has memory issues and is not able to care for her cats like she used to. Although she lives in my in-law suite with her cats, she is unable to remember things like medication etc. but thanks to Dr Costello, we are on our way to a better Blue Kitty :)”

“I had an unfortunate situation with my sweet girl Persephone about a week ago. My girl had blood in her urine and I rushed her to the emergency vet. Turns out she had a large bladder stone. The surgery to get that removed at the emergency vet was between 6-7 thousand. I thought I wasn’t gonna be able to save her. The emergency vet told me to call around some local vets and see if I can get a better price and VCA of CT was one of my first. They were extremely fast. Set up a consultation meeting asap. And had a surgery in less than 5 days. The price was extremely doable considering the numbers I’ve been hearing. We went in very early in the morning and the vet Dr Currao was extremely kind and came out to speak with us about how the surgery would go. She helped me feel confident and more comfortable with this procedure because my cat is getting a little bit older. She’s 9 years old right now. Dr Currao ensured Persephone would be the first surgery of the day because we were coming from out of state🩷 the vets texted me and called me throughout everything and Persephone made it safely through the surgery!! The customer service here is fantastic. Beautiful location and such a wonderful place. I’m so thankful for choosing VCA!!!”
