“Chapel Haven enabled us to see how much independence (a lot) our son, Andy could achieve. They were never defensive when we challenged their assumptions, nor did they push back on our ideas. Just the opposite, they showed Andy (and us) how independent he could be: Living in a non affiliated apartment/condo, working at Home Depot, commuting back and forth including home completely independently. We no longer have to worry what happens to him if (hopefully) he outlives us.
He recently went with a group and climbed Mt Kilimanjaro without any staff from Chapel Haven nor us (his parents). That’s independence and his self worth has increased geometrically as well. None of this we could have dreamed of when Andy graduated from our high school.”

“We had a wonderful experience adopting our newest family member from Animal Haven. We went to meet Gunner and knew right away we wanted to take him home with us.

Angelina brought him out to meet and play with us. She was super helpful and answered all our questions.

Ava handled our application. She was so kind and helpful. She communicated well with us during the whole process.

You can tell the staff and volunteers all care deeply about the animals and they all are well cared for.”

“I enjoy going to the bread for life and eating lunch and speaking with everyone. But I also have to say that the staff there is so wonderful, and they have made me feel welcome and done so much for me, anytime I need someone to talk to or need something they're there to help me. And I just want to say they're all wonderful, and I appreciate each and every one of them and missy is wonderful. She is an unbelievable person, she has a heart of gold for each and every person in the world. God bless you all and thank you for all you've done for me. In my family”

“This is a fantastic place, been going there for 15 years and it only gets better especially since I have been able to take my boys to the gym with me. Google review is not a place for disgruntled ex-employees to leave nasty messages--I have worked and interacted with the staff myself and everyone is kind and nurturing. If you were fired from the Y and you're not able to get along with folks there, that means you have something seriously wrong with you. I hope other employers look at these reviews and take it into consideration when you apply for another job. Be fair and don't be nasty!”

“Thursday April 11 I came across this beautiful loving and well organized soup kitchen. Staff are very welcoming and full of compassion. All types of life were there, elderly, Young adults and children. Definitely a safe place and really good hot food- I ate twice lol?? Bread. Cakes. Hot meal. Some clothes is out at times to take if you need them. I wanted to respect everyone's privacy so I did not take pictures. Thank you Meriden soup kitchen for your amazing service to the community!??❤️‍?”

“My daughter Nalani needed something less instrusive after starring as the Little Mermaid at her school. This camp allowed her to enjoy her summer and get her comfortable for the stage without too much pressure. I LOVE THIS PROGRAM.”

“I had a quick and easy experience here adopting my kitten. They set up a meet and greet and had my kitten spayed and at home with me in less than a week! Mary and John were so friendly and able to answer all my questions. My kitten’s paperwork/medical records were sent right to my email after the adoption. Highly recommend!”

“These people are doing the best they can considering they service two communities that don't properly fund them. Ask the towns they work for why they don't have a new building and more officers on staff? Its a shame and a sad situation for the animals.”

“Can someone here tell me if the mortgage loans offered with them have a lower interest rate than the market? What would be the pro of getting their help, and having a conventional loan? if I am a moderate income person. thank you”

“I adopted my dog from MHS two years ago and really appreciate their thorough process- yes it is more than some other shelters ask for, but they really put in the time and effort to try to find safe and caring forever homes for the animals in their care.
I had such a great experience it inspired me to start volunteering with the dog team, and seeing the love and care they give to every dog they take in is amazing. Especially with the current environment - limited resources and more surrenders than ever- the workmates stops and no animal is turned away if we have the ability to help them.”

“I dropped off several bags of clothes, and Joe was a great help. He met us at the door and insisted on taking the bags from our car even though we tried taking them to the door for him. He is an excellent asset to Goodwill, and I wanted to ensure he was recognized.”

“While there used to be a Salvation Army where I live (Vernon, now closed forever), I know there are still other stores like these scattered all over CT.

I trekked to Hamden earlier this year and when I went here, they had some cool stuff.

I found a couple of good things that I liked. The clothing selection is decent, book selections are a little iffy. There's literally so much space that could be used to keep merchandise in these areas. Service is really good.

I think this Salvation Army is better than other ones I've been to.”
