“The staff is always really friendly and I've gotten a good deal of stuff for way cheaper than list price. They have sales every other week too so it's definitely a place worth checking out!”

“Love this place . One of the only stores you can buy exclusively ceramic supplies at on the east coast. I mix all my glaze from scratch I can always count on clayworks having whatever I need to mix my glaze no matter how experimental I’m feeling . I wish they were open Monday and Sunday but if I ever need something urgently on a Monday I can drive to Baltimore to their other store. I also highly recommend taking classes at clayworks studios in Baltimore where I taught for a number of years. They have an excellent studio space and it’s located in very close proximity to the Baltimore clayworks supplies so you will never run out of clay to work with.”

“This is a fantastic hobby store. It is the only hobby store that is metro accessible and within driving distance in the DMV area. They have a large amount of tables that can serve as tabletop gaming tables or card tables, they have a huge range of products going from your classic Warhammer to historicals, Star Wars, and other genres. In addition to that, the staff pride themselves on creating an inclusiveness atmosphere where all are welcome to game, and cleanliness of the store. I highly recommend for anyone on the DMV area to make this store your hobby place.”

“I love Michael's. I also appreciate being able to shop unimpeded with clerks lingering around. I was able to take my time to find the yarn that I wanted to crochet with, finding new crochet hooks, crochet needles for sewing projects together, and locating all of the charms for the bracelets I've made for myself, my daughters, my friend who came with me, and her kids.

Checkout was a breeze, although I think the only issue I had was the last time I was there, I placed all of my items in a strategic pattern from least expensive to the most expensive. I had them all lined up on the counter to scan and some middle aged clerk took it upon herself to come over to grab all of my items to scan them herself. This annoyed me. So much so that I started to just walk out with buying anything when I had a little over $150 worth of items on the counter and paid for everything single one of them each and every time I go into that store or any other Michael's for that matter. I'm fine with self checkout. In fact, I prefer self checkout and not having people touching all of my items. They were already touched previously by the clerk who had to take them to the counter for me. I spend hundreds of dollars on crafting items because I love my hobbies of crocheting, beading and jewelry making, sewing fabric into something nice and obtaining other embellishment items for sewing, wood burning projects, and more. Outside of that one lady, I otherwise had fun perusing and shopping in the store.”

“My wife and I live in Old Town and have enjoyed eating at Michael's on King twice in the past two weeks and both times we had a really nice experience. Besides the great food, the service was exemplary, and the prices were very reasonable. Our first visit was late as we were returning from a flight into Dulles (!) at 2130 hrs and knew many restaurants would be closing soon. We picked Michael's since it was on our way home, just a few blocks from our home, and we hadn't eaten there in a while. As an aside, we find it hard to return to restaurants often because there are so many good choices in our city. Anyway, when we arrived only three tables were eating in the downstairs area, and we were quickly greeted, sat, and ordered immediately since it was late. There were no complaints from our server despite our late arrival. The ambience was old school Italian restaurant, with the audible but not too loud music to match. We were brought fresh bread which we were told was baked at the restaurant, and we were given a spicy olive oil mix to dip our bread into. It was delicious! We ordered drinks, and were quickly brought from the upstairs bar a very tasty Aperol spritz (my “go to” for an Italian cocktail) and a Pinot Noir. The food came out quickly and was hot. I had a delicious lasagne (apparently the owner's grandmother's recipe) and my wife loved her mushroom ravioli. A split tiramisu capped off the evening, and I could tell it was made in house since real coffee soaked the bottom of my dessert. The price was very reasonable, at $130 for two entrees, two drinks, one dessert, and an excessive tip because of our late arrival. Our second visit was only a week or so after because we had a such good time on our first visit. I'm clearly a non-foodie idiot because I had the lasagna once again, but in my defense it was really really good. Once again we had a great meal with even better service. We highly recommend Michael's on King for your future dinner plans.”

“Mind Games says that it is the creative shop for minds at play. In some areas they are highly successful. They have the largest and most diverse collection of jigsaw puzzles. I have a friend who loves jigsaw puzzles and she would thoroughly enjoy the store. I also really liked their sword collection. They had a beautiful collection of swords hanging near the main desk. There were a few cute animated toys, such as a small race course near the front entrance of the store. I did feel it was really small, even for my young grandson. I was fascinated by this toy bird that continued to fly circles around the ceiling near the entrance. Service was great. I was offered help as soon as I entered the store. They were very nice. I didn't ask any prices, so I can't really speak to the cost value. I would call this a niche store. It is for people who have an interest or niche that they are in search of. I am still wondering about that bird flying overhead. Pretty cool toy.”

“Allan and Josh were amazing. They were next level with everything. Today I should have purchased a gaming system where the store and its staff would've received sales credit, instead I had to replace a controller for the 5th time due to THE SAME manufacturer's defect. SHAME ON SONY FOR THIS SCAM! GREAT WORK to Gamestop!! This was a birthday gift that I'm replacing AGAIN for years now the same exact item. I should be celebrating today, but I feel completely SCAMMED by SONY and i should because i wasted money. Gamestop and it's staff today should be recognized for their great work.”

“Went there to get some fabric medium and couldn't find any. Brianna took the time to look for it. Couldn't find any for that brand, so she was able to find another brand. It's been a long time since an employee had gone all out to help me. Great job Brianna!”

I went in today (November 2, 2025) and this store is definitely NOT temporarily closed like Google says!

Wow, fully stocked with awesome finds. I called beforehand to ask if they had an item I needed, and they actually answered the phone, followed the prompt, put me on hold, and came back confirming they had it. ??

The Christmas and balloon selection is amazing! For a smaller store, the layout is on point clean, organized, and surprisingly better stocked than our Michaels stores in Orlando, Florida. ???

If you’re in the area, this location is absolutely worth the stop!”
