Upshur Pool is a free, basic swimming spot that offers a clean and enjoyable environment for visitors. The pool area is spacious, with many lounge chairs, many in full sun, providing a good place to relax, cool off, or soak up some sun. The pool itself is well-maintained, and lifeguards are attentive, ensuring safety for swimmers. However, the changing rooms are outdated and can be messy, with sticks and leaves often present, so visitors should plan accordingly. The atmosphere is generally fun and nostalgic, making it a good place for families and friends to gather. On the downside, there is a high volume of whistle blowing from the lifeguards, which can be disruptive, especially since one guard whistles frequently and loudly. There is no adult swim, and every 45 minutes, the pool is emptied for 15 minutes, which some find inconvenient. Staff behavior varies; some find the staff, particularly the manager, to be rude and disrespectful at times, especially toward older visitors. Despite these issues, the overall experience is positive, with many recalling childhood memories at the pool. Occasionally, there have been incidents like people pooping in the pool, but these are rare. Overall, Upshur Pool is a nice, simple place to enjoy a day in the sun.
