“I randomly called vortex as a totally inexperienced gamer and asked if my son and I could possibly sit in on the sidelines and get a feel for a DND game that was already in progress. Not only did Vortex accommodate both me and my son but the campaign that we had the honor of watching brought us into the game, helped us customize characters and continue every week to help us grow in gaming knowledge. I'm even starting to expand into the Magic the Gathering card game! Most importantly I've made a group of close friends that I've laughed with and can't wait to spend time with every week and it has been a special bonding experience for my son and I. “This is the best hobby store within 2 hours. Great selection and the staff always take time to answer my questions and don't belittle me for asking simple things.
I went in 2 weeks ago to get some guidance on adding internal lighting to some model kits as I've never done it before. The staff spent 20 minutes to explain how it all works and what I would need. He walked me throughout the store pointing out each part and showing me examples of how others had used them to light their kits.
I think the owner sets the price based on how much it's selling for at online retailers. I used to compare the prices for their kits to how much I could find them on eBay or Amazon and they were usually almost identically priced.
They started carrying Gundam kits within the last year and while they don't have an extreme selection, they do carry some of the newer kits. They stocked the Real-Grade Epyon almost immediately after it was released.”
