“Gorgeous orchids and a fun nursery to visit in Miami-Dade! They've been established for over 50 years so the grounds are impressive - highly recommend. There's beautiful gardens on the property too. This shop is like visiting a botanical garden where you can pick out plants to take home. They used to offer tours of the gardens and it seems like you can still arrange a private one in advance by calling them.
The plants are everywhere and clearly marked with prices or if it's a display [not for sale]. It's magical walking through isles of hanging orchids. If plants aren't individually priced, there's a key on the wall indicating how much each variety is.
I'm new to orchid care, and can't give specifics on what types of orchids they offer. However, the shop workers are eager to help - but also give you space to peruse on your own.

“This is not your typical Nursery, they have a wide selection and all are very healthy plants, but the best part is the customer service, I called the day before to see if they hand plantain plants and they did and well priced and when I went the next day Yani help me with what I was looking for but she was very knowledgeable of everything I saw and very kind to my kids who came along the customer service she provided you don't even see in five start hotels today! They office was very clean and decorated for the holidays which was nice I was able to take some pictures with the kids and even pick up a miracle fruit plant because it looked so good ?. Highly recommend”

“My daughter went back to where we lived in the Redlands and stopped at this beautiful orchid business and omg I’m so impressed. She brought me back the most beautiful orchid I have ever seen and told my daughter to let me know if I find anything I want for me to call them and they will help me purchase them online. I was so impressed at how beautiful their orchids are and I can’t wait to do business with them. We left the Redlands about 3 years ago and moved to South Carolina so I truly miss orchids but this wonderful place told my daughter to tell me the best way to have these amazing flowers and plants up here so I’m very excited to get started in orchids again.

“Little River Cooperative is an amazing resource. I bought Cranberry hibiscus plants from them and the plants were in perfect condition and wrapped beautifully and carefully.The plants have flourished here at Gipsy Hill Farm.I will use these plants for decorative purposes here on the farm in salads as garnish as well as in bouquets. I highly recommended their plants. Please see the hibiscus used in my vases!”

“I made an appointment with Katie over a month back to visit Going Bananas by email. I have visited multiple times before, every time I am impressed with Don's encylopedia-like recall of banana varieties as they are discussed. I have purchased over a dozen varieties from Don and Katie, every time a smooth process in making appointments.
Don is generous with information and isn't just looking to make sales (I was originally looking for Manzano but was given information about its lack of hardiness and susceptibility). Katie and Don are wonderful people, I highly recommend asking for a varietal tour on the farm and sampling bananas if they are available. Going Bananas is worth a visit even if you aren't planning to get plants.”

“Huge selection of rare plants. I picked up a curry tree and a mulberry and porter weed. They will usually drive you around in a golf cart to search what you are looking for. They take cash or debit. The staff was friendly and even came down a little in price.”
“So very pleased with the helpful service I received tonight at the Cutler Bay Home Depot when buying a portable generator and air conditioner in perparation for what will soon be Hurricane Ian. The guys helping me got on the ladder to verify the stock of portable generators at the store, helped me load the (very heavy) generator onto my cart, and helped verify the generator could power the portable a/c unit. At checkout, my card was declined because of the large amount of the purchase, and the staff were very, very patient in helping me try different point-of-sale machines to verify it was indeed a card issue. A call to my credit card company resolved that issue, and once I finally purchased everything, they helped me load the generator into my car. These folks are truly the unsung heroes of retail when a storm is on the way. I cannot thank them enough for their exceptional service and helpful attitude in answering my numerous questions. 10/10.”

“Drove down to Homestead from Orlando last week and stopped by Action Theory Nursery to buy some plants. The company has a very large selection of plants from which to choose. I did buy some plants to take back to Orlando with me and the value is fantastic for what you get. Dollar for dollar you cannot beat the prices. The employees are very helpful and patient in working with you to pick out the best plants. Definitely worth stopping to see what is available.”

“I ordered from Costa through Amazon. The outside box got a bit damaged in shipping...but they can't control what UPS does. The plants were beautiful...a foot tall! The pots were very nice as well! I got them on sale on Amazon so the price was fair. I love my plants and am quite happy with my purchase! I have only had them a few weeks but they are growing beautifully! I just transplanted them into larger pots, ( I'm keeping the original pots for new smaller plants because they are so nice) and they are doing great!”
