“I would like to leave a compliment to one of your staff in Fort White store - her name is Sabrina - she is so nice and very very efficient - I was amazed at her manner handling a long line - by herself - during a busy time -”
“I love this store, the employees are always helpful and friendly, and will go out of their way to help you find anything :)I may go in for a few items, but leave with a buggy full. The selection of merchandise is great and prices very reasonable. And they always have a fantastic variety of decorations for any holiday..The Christmas decorations this year were wonderful and such a great selection...”
“The employees are helpful and very friendly. Thee is also a wide variety of items to choose from with killer sales and everything is always fully stocked. I would go out of my way to visit this location.”
“Dollar general has so many locations, you can always find one. This one is well maintained, stocked, and the staff are very helpful. However... Dollar general locations almost always have only one entrance into the parking lot, so you have to reverse at some stage in your visit. That effectively rules out RV's towing, which is a major no for RVers. Dg is missing a significant customer segment.”
“The staff there are pretty unique and cool. I definitely like them all like they are friends/family. Down to Earth people & decent selection, enough to hold you over till you actually feel like driving to town, lol. Shout out to Hopes mom, The Hope that works at the Lake City Ihop, her mom works at that Dollar General. Sorry I suck at names.. lol. Yall keep up the good vibes and keep that money rolling in.”
“This new “DG” is in a perfect location for many families living in rural country areas. The staff are always eager to assist, professional, respectful and kind!!”
“Let’s give credit where credit is strictly due: Stephanie, Janna, Katelyn, Joey, and the rest of the incredible crew whose names I’ve yet to catch have been absolutely stellar. Every single interaction with them has been nothing short of awesome. Running a retail store right off the interstate—and directly across from the local Love’s—is no joke. This location faces a heavy, relentless influx of traffic, including a non-stop stream of travelers and truckers. The staff is constantly being pulled in a million directions, balancing their daily tasks while helping customers navigate the store. And let's be real: since no two Dollar Generals are ever laid out the same way, they are answering “where is this?” all day long! (Not a bash to the store, but the corporate layout logic is truly a mystery of the universe 😉). Yet, they handle it amazingly. I also noticed some complaints in other reviews that I feel compelled to address. First, regarding the Mustang parked in the front corner spot: as a woman who understands the realities of closing a store at night, the complaints about this are entirely unfair. Being right off a busy highway means safety is the absolute priority. Parking right by the front door ensures that employee has a fast, direct, and safe path to her car or back inside if a suspicious character is lurking. It’s a common-sense safety measure, not a privilege. Second, to anyone commenting on cleanliness: if you haven’t personally worked a grueling shift at a Dollar General, Dollar Tree, or Family Dollar, please give these workers some grace. Go apply, walk a mile in a service worker's shoes, see how much chaos they manage on a skeleton crew, and then look at things with a little more perspective. Until you've been in their position, kindness and empathy should come first. This crew is doing a phenomenal job under high-stress conditions, and they deserve nothing but respect and appreciation!”
Burlington Stores is giving its locations a major makeover. The off-price retailer has already transformed about half of its 1,115 stores and plans to complete the redesign across its entire fleet by the end of 2026. The company calls this makeover "Store Experience 2.0." Gone are the cramped aisles and confusing layouts that once defined discount shopping. Instead, Burlington is creating wider walkways, organized sections, and clearer signs to help shoppers find what they need.
Dollar General is adding more of its private label food offerings to stores, following similar moves by big retailers like Walmart and Amazon as store brands keep growing in popularity. The store is launching new items under its own labels, including ice cream, cinnamon rolls, coffee syrups, and salad dressings. The move comes as store brand sales reached $271 billion in 2024, up nearly 4% from 2023.
Daiso, the beloved Japanese retailer known for its variety of affordable household goods, is expanding further in the U.S. market. This week, the company is celebrating the grand openings of three new stores in Texas and California. On Saturday, Aug. 10, Daiso debuted an 8,000-sq.-ft. location in Beaumont, Texas, at Dowlen Towne Center, as well as two Southern California stores - a 6,319-sq.-ft. space in Van Nuys at Mid Valley Marketplace and a 5,200-sq.-ft. store in Westminster at Westminster Center.
Dollar Tree is moving into 170 former 99 Cents Only stores, marking a big shift in the discount retail landscape. The company announced Wednesday it's taking over leases in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas, with plans to reopen the stores under its own brand as early as fall 2024.
Ollie's Bargain Outlet just landed a great deal of its own, winning a $14.6 million bankruptcy auction for 11 former 99 Cents Only store locations across Texas. The discount retail chain pounced after 99 Cents Only abruptly went out of business in March, shuttering all 371 of its stores in California, Arizona, Texas, and Nevada. Ollie's quickly made an opening "stalking horse bid" to grab over a dozen of the empty properties.
