I haven't been to the Friends of the Library book sale in a while, so going was kind of an experience. I didn't really have a goal in mind for what I wanted, so just going through the stacks and browsing to see if anything caught my eye was the basic plan. Lots of people lined up, but I got through the line pretty quickly. Inside, the books are arranged in a reasonable order, and the different sections are easy to identify, so finding areas that interested me was not a problem. Coming across the cooking section, I found that there were a number of smaller cookbooks that I like to term as "Wive's Club Cookbooks" which can be some of the best/most entertaining cookbooks you can come across due to the nature of the recipes that are contained in them. You never know what you are going to find in them, though recipes from the 1960's are prevalent and gelatin comes into heavy play. Good stuff there, and I stocked up on them. Overall, the Friends of the Library book sale is always a good thing to go to!

In from out of town on a work trip and was excited to visit this FOL store. I walked a mile from my hotel to get there before my work events for the day. Turns out that they aren't actually open during their listed opening hours. They only accept donations in anticipation of a later sale event. The FOL should claify this online and chnage their opening hours on google. Super misleading.

One of my favorite Gainesville events. Bring a bag or several. "There's no ethical consumption under capitalism," but this is about as close as it gets. Buy more books than you can possibly read, let them sit around your house for a while, then donate them back to Friends of the Library. Ultimately, I see purchasing books from the FOL sale as more of a donation than anything, since I know many of my books will get re-donated to FOL later down the line, before a move or after a major belongings purge.

They used to charge admission on the 1st day, which helped to keep the line short. I was in line for about an hour, no shade. The prices seem much higher now, and arbitrary.Even here Liberals have to assert their politics. The book 'Rigged' by Molly Hemingway was in a section labeled "Political Fiction". I had read the whole thing and it was well researched, with over 84 pages of sources. I challenge anyone to find just one false statement in it.

My wife is a book aficionado (hooked on books) and we have been partaking in this twice a year event for many years now. The volunteer crew is always fabulous and go out of their way to assist with any need..(shout out to PJ) my mate ?. This years experience was uneventful, meaning no issues from rude dealer types and it was easy to move around and pursue some great finds. Thanks also to the Alachua County Sherriffs Department for their commitment to support and safety of the event.

I was driving past and saw all of the doors open. Looked like a really cool place. As I was walking inside, a random boomer appeared, pulled down his mask, and angrily asked "can I help you with something?" I replied "Hello, just saw this place from the street and was curious what it was". He remarked "Okay, well we are only open for donations today. Read the sign." The sign was pointed towards the other street, not the street I entered from. He made sure to turn it towards me so I could read it.Not sure what I did to set anything off apart from exist. Get some more friendly volunteers. Being an a$$ isn't worth a negative review.
