About Friends of the Library Alachua County Library District
Friends of the Library Alachua County Library District hosts a popular book sale that attracts many visitors. The event offers a wide variety of books, organized in a reasonable manner, making it easy to browse and find interesting sections such as cooking, where unique and entertaining cookbooks from different eras are available. Visitors often find good deals, with some purchasing multiple books at low prices, and many see the event as an opportunity to donate or resell books later. The sale is appreciated as a community event and a way to support the library, with many attendees bringing bags to carry their finds. Volunteers are praised for their helpfulness, creating a friendly and supportive environment, and the safety of the event is supported by local authorities. However, some visitors note that the event can be time-consuming, with long lines and no organized genre or author sections, which can make browsing slower and require patience. Prices have been reported as higher than before, and some feel the admission fee on the first day has increased. Despite these issues, many consider the sale a worthwhile experience, especially for those who enjoy browsing for hours and making donations. Overall, the Friends of the Library book sale is seen as a good place to find books, support the library, and enjoy a community event, even if it requires some patience and time investment.
