Hogtown Creek Headwaters Nature Park is a beautiful and peaceful park in the northwest part of Gainesville. It is great for gatherings, outings, and picnics with family and pets, with many furry friends often seen. The large grounds are perfect for parties and small gatherings. The park features a great playground with an array of attractions including slides, swings, a climbing rock, musical instruments, and a small zipline that is a highlight for children. There is also an exercise walk with equipment. Visitors can enjoy a loop nature trail through the shaded woods along the creek. The park has a nature center with a cute exhibit and a small museum offering information on local history, ecology, water, and the turpentine industry, though its hours are limited. Clean restrooms are available on site. The park is also home to a butterfly garden, bird feeders attracting many species, and occasional wildlife like deer.
Very nice park. I've lived in Gainesville almost my whole life and I just discovered this gem.
