“Not just a vitamin store. Had tempeh, Abbot's vegan meats, Aloha vegan protein bars. Plus plenty of chips, cereal, pasta, flour, etc. There are some prepared fresh salads, but no hot or cold food bar. No precooked or smoked tofu.”

Let’s be real for a second.
You ever walk into a discount store and it feels like a scene from a post-apocalyptic movie?
One cashier looks like she’s seen war.
Another’s staring blankly at the floor, trying to astral project out of their shift.
Boxes in the aisle like landmines.
And you? Just trying to survive long enough to grab a loaf of bread and a bottle of cold medicine.
That’s the norm.
But not here. Not this time. Not this Dollar General.
And let me tell you — I wasn’t even in good shape.
A little groggy, under the weather, just needed some medicine and a quiet minute. This spot’s right down the road from where I’m staying, so I made a quick stop... and walked into what felt like a damn retail miracle.
From the moment I stepped inside, it was different.
The store was spotless — I’m talking floors you could eat off of, shelves stocked and organized like someone took actual pride in their work, and a vibe that made you forget for a moment you were in a Dollar General and not some hidden gem of a mom-and-pop shop.
And the staff?
Next level.
Every single one of them was moving with purpose — stocking shelves, assisting customers, and doing it all with smiles, eye contact, and genuine greetings.
Multiple employees asked if I needed help, and not in that robotic, “I-have-to-say-this” way.
It was real. They meant it.
Let me emphasize this:
They asked me what I needed.
They showed actual concern for a customer — a sick, probably slightly grumpy customer at that.
In 2025? That’s rarer than a cart without a busted wheel.
I didn’t get names like I usually do — I just wasn’t at 100%. My head was foggy, my body was dragging, and I barely had the energy to focus. But I damn sure noticed the effort from that whole team. And that effort deserves to be seen, respected, and appreciated.
? So to the crew at this Dollar General:
KUDOS. PROPS. SALUTE.
You made a sick guy’s day better just by showing up and doing your jobs like you actually give a damn.
Keep being the rare ones. The ones who care.
The ones who prove that excellence doesn’t need to be expensive — just intentional.

“BJ'S gas is a lot lower than the chain stations in town. It pays to be a member! The lines are usually long, but I've only waited ten minutes tops to pump my gas. The only problem I had was not getting a receipt at the pump, but you could walk over to the attendant to get one. I just found it inconvenient because I use a walker and I was far away from the attendant. I didn't want to hold up the line of people waiting.”
“Today, we accidentally stumbled upon a small grocery store specializing in products from Eastern Europe. It’s very cozy, clean, and offers a wide selection of items from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. The store is run by a lovely husband and wife, former professional athletes. There’s also a small deli inside, where we bought Olivier salad Оливье and a cottage cheese casserole запеканку —it tasted just like childhood! Everything is clearly made with love. Definitely stop by!”

“Always good organic products that help us have a balanced diet as well as good prices and good customer service. The only negative thing I see about Aldi is when canceling purchases there is always a long line of people which they solve every 30 minutes by calling the cashier, I just don't know why they do that and don't leave the employee at the checkout.”
