Having just sold our home in Miami, we needed to pickup a van that we could drop off in our new home of Henderson NV. Thrifty came through for us!On the pickup date, we went down to the pickup point but did not have the appropriate paperwork. Wayne was super nice and said he had the right van for us but we needed to go back upstairs to the counter to complete the transaction. Upon going upstairs, we were lucky to work with Paulette. Let's be honest, renting a car is not usually an exciting event but Paulette was a real sweetheart. We usually use another rental company but in this case, Thrifty had the right unit for our travels. Paulette helped us with our insurance needs and the additional driver info. She explained everything to us and we had a couple of good laughs with her. We went back downstairs and Wayne had our van ready to go and explained the drop seats and onboard systems. This was our 1st experience with Thrifty and the Miami Team of Paulette & Wayne made it awesome. Many THANKS to them!Cheers,L&J Henderson NV

Had a reservation for 9:00 am pick-up. Got there about 5 minutes early. But got a text saying that I must check in online via text 15 mins before reservation. So did the driver's license and photo upload and took care of everything online (including declining all the usual unnecessary upsells) an hour before arriving at the counter. Thrifty counter was closed at 9:00am and had a sign to go to Dollar counter, which had 25-30 people already lined up. After waiting 45 mins in line, the counter lady took another 20 minutes to go through what I already did online and kept upselling insurance tolls gas etc which we politely declined repeatedly (which I already declined during the online text confirmation). She then told us the car is not ready and we would have to wait another 30-45 minutes downstairs. We eventually and finally got our car an hour later. So two hours plus plus plus wait time in total at this Thrifty location --- be warned!

Worst experience ever when renting a car. I purchased the rental on priceline, never doing that again either. Paid for it in october for nov travel. Got to the rental car counter and told them I have already paid. He asked about insurance and tolls I stated no for insurance and yes for tolls. Long story short I got charged for the insurance. When I called the same day I was told I would have to call when I returned the vehicle. (Knew I was screwed now). I called when I got back and was told I signed for the insurance, I told him I signed to get the vehicle not no damn insurance. I am out of that money. I will never rent thrifty again took us 45 minutes to get a car after making a reservation, they said they did not have the car we requested. Some guy running around finding cars for people, it was a nightmare. RENT AT YOUR OWN RISK! I SCREWED UP USAUALLY USE ENTERPRISE. THIRTY AROUND THE WORLD A NO FOR ME!

I was poorly received when I handed over the car and was told to leave the key and leave. As soon as I was in the international departure lounge, I saw in my email that I was charged the fuel fee for not having returned the full tank. I returned the full tank, I had just filled up until the pump went out and checked the car dashboard. I contacted the review I received in my email and they didn't get back to me. I wanted some proof or photo that the fuel tank was not full. I didn't think it was honest.

They don't aacept cash. If you have a problem with third party reservations you're left on your own to sort it out. Need own internet and most companies don't have WhatsApp or phone service, only mailing. Be aware to have an additional hold on your credit card around $300. Renting a car in advance from a third party is more profitable then onsite at desk. At desk all.inclusive is $1400 for 10 days while third party is $650. Apart from that, the car itself is great!

AVOID AVOID AVOID. I've been scammed. Currently trying to get back money for added extras I didn't ask for. Be careful when giving them your deposit that they haven't hidden charges in it. I will update this review once I hear back from customer services.... After the reply below from Hertz, I used the chat link to speak to 5 different people who copied and pasted useless replies, basically insisting that I must have agreed and they can't do anything to help me.

Took over an hour to get car. Then they wouldn’t give us an SUV that we rented, because there were “none”. The girl gave us a Toyota Corolla. When I pointed to a small SUV on their lot, the girl’s response was “ No. that’s like 4 levels above what you rented”.Our bill, originally $256, came to $490 for three day rental… after adding on insurance and pass. I’ve never paid so much money for a rental and usually rent through Enterprise (much better). But thought this would be a better deal. Never again.

The woman at the rental counter in the MIA airport found me a rental for a better prince including some "package" deal, in other words it was cheaper to get the insurance with the rental for some reason. I agreed, and she only put in 24 hours, not 26 hours as I requested. Fast forward, the $48 car rental then became a $241 rental because she only reserved this for 24 hours, not 24 hours + 2 hours. On top of all of this, I forgot the remote key in my purse when I returned the car, I called and overnighted the key back. They charged me $300, now they wont refund my deposit because they are saying they received the key weeks later than I sent it (I have tracking info to prove this). Getting ahold of anyone is impossible. I have called 6 times in 4 months and was promised a call back every time by a supervisor, and no call back.

Actual price of the car was almost double the estimated price from the booking website becuase they force you to use their own insurance. We were quoted about $550 on booking, and once we picked up the car they wouldn’t accept our insurance and added an additional $350 for their insurance for a ten day rental. They also told us the original car we agreed to wasn’t available so we had to pay $100 for an “upgrade.” Wish we had known about the insurance policy sooner, we never had this problem with other rental companies. However, we didn’t have to wait an hour like other reviews stated, possibly because our pickup time was 7:30pm. The agent was friendly and explained everything to us, but we’re not satisfied with the company itself.

This has been the worst rental car experience I have ever went through. The day of receiving the rental. My rental was delayed by 4 hours. Ridiculous! Even with with them giving a grace period from the time we received the rental after the 4 hours. I was still charged an extra amount for I don't know what. I was supposed to receive back $200.00 for my deposit and I only received back $84. Will never rent from them again or will I ever refer anyone to them. If I can give them no stars or a half a star I would.

This location is a complete mess. Check in was okay, I suppose, if you ignore the customers yelling at the agent and the fact they randomly point to a car and tell you that's yours. However, we realized halfway down the road that the car wasn't actually cleaned and kept finding random little "gifts" throughout the week. Little pieces of paper, nuts, a pen, etc. The tank also wasn't completely full, though this was thankfully noted on the contract, and the car dripped cold water all over my feet anytime we ran the air conditioning, which was every day. Finally, while driving the highway between Naples and Key West (hwy 41?) a piece of the driver's door moulding/trim fell off somewhere. We didn't hit any bumps, weren't in an accident, it just .. disappeared .. and we noticed only when we stopped for gas. I was unable to reach anyone in the office, the South Miami office couldn't help bc it wasn't rented from that location, and the main 800# didn't even provide an option to talk to someone unless you wanted reservations or to report an accident needing roadside assistance. I tried to talk to someone at drop off, but it was so chaotic (including employees yelling at each other) that they had me sign a form, gave me a receipt, and sent me on my way. Quite frankly, I received better customer service from MasterCard when I called to open a claim and report the missing trim, just in case Hertz tried to bill me for it. Today I received the bill for $266 (166 for the repair, $100 admin fee) for this piece of trim. The car had less than 10k miles on it and it FELL OFF. There was literally no damage to the car, clearly indicating we hadn't done anything to it. I just happened to be the unlucky customer renting it at the time. Between the employees, the dirty car with yellow X's all over the windshield, and now this bill, I will never rent from any Hertz company again. Definitely don't recommend.

ONE STAR is more than generous and only given in order to post this review. For starters, we waited in line for more than an hour to get to the rental counter. Upon getting our vehicle it smelled of marijuana and was not clean. There was a chicken bone still on the floor. After a long week of travel we were tired and just decided to leave with the vehicle. Later in the evening we were looking at the receipt that was emailed and we were charged for the optional insurance which we had declined. Because we were in Miami for the night and staying at a hotel near the airport, my husband went back to the airport to speak with someone regarding the cleanliness of the vehicle and the unwanted charges. Maria was the manager at that time and she was extremely RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. She argued with my husband and said we had mistakenly been given an “upgrade”. She also accused my husband of agreeing to the optional insurance. The initial car we were given was a basic Chevy Equinox which no one would consider an upgrade. Maria proceeded to tell my husband she was going to exchange our car to what we were supposed to have received in the first place which was a Nissan Murano that was even more basic than the Chevy. She charged us for the gas we had used in the Chevy, even though we had not gone there with the intention of trading in the car. We had planned on filling up before returning the car the next day. When my husband tried to question Maria about the fuel charges, she grabbed her belongings from behind the desk, waved my husband off to another employee and she walked away. The other male employee who was left to deal with my husband was also very rude and confrontational. We will be making every attempt to reach someone at their corporate office the inform them of this location’s horrible customer service

NEVER AGAIN!!!!, First off, there was a glitch in the system so I had to pay double from the beginning because I used Expedia. Well finally they gave a car after I told them to give me the same rate I was given originally. Got to the garage to pick up the car and took them over an hour to finally give me the car. Everything else went well until I returned the car, dropped it off on Sunday at the time I told them I would return it. The guy told me all is good to go and he will email me a receipt, never got it. Tuesday I get a call that I need to return the rental, I AM ALREADY HOME IN NC since Sunday. So I call back and was told everything is good and I will receive the receipt, still nothing. Friday I finally receive the receipt and it states I turn the car in Thursday and was charged triple the amount of the original charge. HOW!!!!! How did you guys not register the car when I returned it SUNDAY....4 extra days. I know ya have cameras and could see when I returned the car, and they put a different car on the receipt. SO UNORGANIZED. NEVER AGAIN. Very unprofessional. I rent cars all the time for business trips and I have never been through this. Ya need to do better.

We booked to pickup at the Port of Miami after our cruise and drop off at the Airport. There was an extra fee to do this. Unfortunately, this was false advertising at the rental location was actually 30 minutes from the port. We had to take a $40 uber and it would have been faster to just pickup at the airport. The car was not ready even though we arrived 1 hour after we said we would. The staff member was incredibly rude and said "well, you're late so that is why your car is not ready". We were late because you are 30 minutes from the port and wouldnt that mean the car should be ready. The car had no gas and the staff member said - what do you want me to do, just fill it yourself. Again, incredibly rude. She was asked why the receipt printed said the van was 100% full of gas. She said she updated it in their system and scribbled on the receipt no gas.Car was not cleaned beforehand - she said we can wait another hour to clean it. The family was still waiting at the port in the sun to be picked up so we said forget it.We had to fill up the tank for over $80 USD (receipt to prove it)We called to ensure the file was updated with these notes and the thrifty rep said the staff member did not actually update the file. She lied. So they said they would put the notes in there but that they cant do anything until the rental is closed. Now we call them when the rental is closed and they said they can't do anything because the file was not updated to say the gas tank was empty. They said they have no manager and no customer service to speak to.WORST SERVICE EVER!

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION OR COMPANY! Picking up the rental for a day trip was a breeze honestly. I paid the price I saw online and was even given a last minute free upgrade since I assume the type of care I wanted wasn't available. Hit the road and everything's good. The nightmare with the company starts upon returning the car. After a long day of moving around and driving me being naturally exhausted, I accidently left some person items in the rental. I realized my mistake before I was even home from dropping the car and immediately turned right back around, to my surprise, they've already given the car to someone else. Less than an hour. The car certainly was not properly inspected and cleaned in that time. With all the diseases going around today I found that disturbing to know the company is skipping over that vital step. Since, I've been on a run around speaking with different employees, many who have been very rude, to hopefully recover my belongings. Stay away from this location if you want to avoid the headache.
