My daughter bought a car from here and test drove it. The vehicle was a 2020. The salesman Alex worked up the numbers for a different car, a 2018. $7,000 deposit made. The insurance company is the one that realized it after the VIN # was given. At that point once told he realized that he had made a mistake. Now the difference was $2,000 more. No big deal for CarMax but now the price goes from $15,998 to $17,998. A manager is called over and says mistakes happen and we can cancel if we want. He offers an oil change and a gas fill up. A $100 offer for a $2,000 mistake. If my daughter didn’t need the car to take her daughter to school and go to work, we wouldn’t have bought it. I offered to pay for a rental till the $7,00 came back to her account. That could have been another week. She had already spent several hours at the dealership and wanted to be done. They are so quick to get your money but not to make sure that the car they are selling is correct. Don’t go to this dealership and definitely don’t go to Alex. The days of customer service no longer exist when it comes making a profit. CarMax stands behind its associates no matter what the price to the customer. I wonder how many times this president’s club member has done this before.

Literally the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Ive been fighting with this company since August of 2024. Called today just to be bounced around like a ball. This phone number is not directly to the Orlando location. No one will let you speak to a manager. This is absolutely ridiculous.

This was the 2nd vehicle we purchased from CarMax and we chose to reach out to Boris whome we purchased our first vehicle. He was quick to respond to our requests and continued communications until we selected the 2023 Prius XLE which he ultimately delivered to us last month. My only complaint is that the vehicle was sold without the Primary Driver removed from the Toyota.com profile. This was the first time I have had to deal with this new technology and I struggled to enroll to replace the profile with mine. Eventually I had to request the salesman at Mike Erdman to remove the old profile. I don't blame Boris for this issue but reduced the rating because I feel CarMax should consider delivering their cars without putting this burden on the new owner. Otherwise Boris would have received a rating of 5.

If this was 5 years ago I would give 5 stars. I purchased my first car here, and everything was great; customer service, additional help, and my car was perfect. I was recently in a car accident and totaled that car. I went back to CarMax because of my previous experience. The second car gave me more problems than a little. I got the car in August and was back and forward to CarMax for 2 months until the problem was "fixed" which I recently found out that it wasn't. I kept telling the service department that there was a problem and I knew what it was because my uncles are professional mechanics but are in Miami. I know they ignored everything I told them, that is why they saw my face every week for 2 months, and I'm having someone else fix the problems. I want to support them but ignoring the customers is not a good look. I hope they do better but this will be my last car from them.

I had left a beaming review from our recent purchase from Ishaq but since I had to purchase a $500 battery two months after my purchase…because I’m 200 miles outside the 90 day warranty for replacement… I decided to change my review. The battery sold to me in the car was the original battery from 2018, an 8 year old battery apparently passed a 60 point inspection. And because I’m just outside the warranty there’s nothing they can do. The standard life of a car battery in Florida is 3-4 years- information a car dealership is well aware of. It’s worth mention the windshield wipers were also the originals.
Shame on CarMax for selling an 8 year old car with the original battery and shame on CarMax for also not changing windshield wipers in a hurricane state. SHAMEFUL BUSINESS PRACTICE.
If I could leave 0 stars I would and I’m heading to yelp as well as contacting the corporate offices.

First of all the process is quick and easy to get a car and it was nice to work with Nick. BUT ever since I’ve gotten this car it has been nothing but trouble. 4 days in of me driving it the check engine light came on, are you kidding me? Ever since then I’ve been going back and forth there missing work. I live over 35 minutes away and I’ve been there going back and forth a total of 6 times. Got the other problems finally fixed on the 19th and on the 25th I was back over there because I had a spilling oil problem that wasn’t happening before I brought my car. A week later I can’t get in touch with anyone. Isn’t that lovely? If you want a lemon this is the place for you. I hope this doesn’t happen to the person I recommended here. I’ll never make that mistake again.

I sold my car to CarMax, and I gotta say, it was surprisingly easy. No haggling. Fair offer. Quite pleasantly surprised how easy the process was.

Purchased a 2015 dodge charger through express pickup which was seamless process. Drove the vehicle 1 hour back home and the check engine light came on, it have a horrible shake when braking and the key fob disconnected several times while driving causing the vehicle to shut off. I understand I purchased a used 10 year old vehicle. I knew the risk. However when I returned to the facility approximately 7 hours later I was told I needed to schedule an appointment for service. Which is crazy I literally just got the vehicle, did yall not service it prior to selling it? There was no express of empathy. There was no one trying to really figure out how did you buy a vehicle less than 8 hours prior and I was back already. A representative informed me “That’s why it’s important to purchase a warranty” The sales manager Robert tried to convince me to give service a chance to look at the issue but after reviewing the reviews I declined. I paid my down payment with a cashiers check and was told I would receive a refund 7-14 days later which is crazy I can’t just walk in and tell them it’s a check in the mail let me get a vehicle, but I digress. Purchase at your own risk I am just sharing my experience.

I am with my family at a 7-Eleven, and we called because the tire had a ball next to it, we were stranded at the gas station and we called and we needed someone to speak Spanish, a girl answered us, she spoke Spanish, she told us that she could help us until next week, by the way she said that she would help us and then she hung up on us, very bad service on her part, I hope she reads this and knows how incompetent she is, then we called again and a boy spoke and was the one who helped us.

For the most part, our experience with Carmax was a pleasant one. We found the vehicle that we wanted we would’ve loved to have negotiated the price, but unfortunately, Carmax doesn’t do that. The only other issue keeping me from giving you a five is that upon receiving our vehicle, it wasn’t detailed Tires were dirty, the outside was dirty as well, so I would suggest that when you do give your cars to your clients you do a full detail so that way they leave even happier.

I relied on CarMax’s reputation when I went to sell my 2013 Cadillac, only to be met with a deceptive and frustrating experience. The online appraisal was nothing more than bait to get me into the dealership, where they had no real intention of honoring it. The moment I arrived for an in-person appraisal, my offer was immediately slashed by $3,400—dropping from $7,400 to just $4,000. Their excuse? The appraiser claimed my transmission was "slipping."
When I demanded verifiable proof of this alleged defect, a repair bulletin from General Motors was provided. The manager came to speak with me but still couldn’t produce any actual evidence other than the repair bulletin. This repair bulletin, covering 2013 to 2015, ironically stated this so-called "slippage" was completely normal, not a defect, and that no repairs should be attempted.
In other words, Car MAX used a completely known normal non-issue as an excuse to justify drastically lowering their offer. This experience felt like nothing short of a bait-and-switch scam, and it completely contradicts CarMax’s marketing claims of fairness and transparency. Sellers beware—this dealership clearly prioritizes undervaluing vehicles over honest business practices.
