Located in the airport. Car was good. Staff was friendly. No unexpected fees and no hard sell for unnecessary services. If you have a reservation, you need to go to the desk near baggage claim 8A. Do NOT go to the lowest level through the tunnel to the garage - I did this because there were no directions on the reservation email - wasted 15 minutes in picking it up.

First time I used Payless, this was the only place that did not charge extra for picking up in Orlando and dropping off in Fort Lauderdale. The mini van assigned to us was a KIA caravan, it was in excellent condition, very clean and with leather seats. Pick up and drop off was a breeze. Staff was very friendly and got my e-receipt right away. I will definitely rent from this place again.

This was the worst rental car I ever had. I reserved this car months before my trip and it wasn’t ready. When they gave me the car it was not cleaned. It was food and trash left in it. I had to get a jump after we stopped at the store for groceries. The seat in the back was broke and wouldn’t move me to make room for the 3rd row passengers. Never again will I rent from this place.

No representative at the desk when we went to pick up our rental car. Every other company had someone there but not Payless. A sign with instructions was left. Go to the elevator behind you, go to the 3rd floor, walk through the food court and take the elevator there to the 1st floor. Well the food court was massive. There was 4 different sets of elevators at the end of it. An hour later we still didn’t find were he was hiding. Called Payless. Talked to several people. They had no idea where or how to get our car. Was told we’d be credited with $50 for our troubles and delay. We never received that. On top of it all our rental was $65 higher than the quote we received online. We could have gotten a better car and obviously a better company for $65. Only went with them because we thought they were the cheapest. We won’t try saving a dollar next time. It ruined the start of our vacation.

The first car we had the gears would not go in reverse and it kept getting stuck and the car was filthy on the outside and inside the car. The gas was almost on empty and just dirty. I went to counter and advised them of this and he switched us to a smaller vehicle when we wanted a 5 passenger, to a 4 passenger and luggage barely fit. The new vehicle they moved us to was also dirty and smelled and it was just unacceptable, I should have just went with another company because the staff there obviously didn't care and time was not on our side. The car performance was bad it wouldnt pick up speed and sometimes it hesitated when on the gas peddle I will never rent from this company again and will not recommend you all. I returned the car with almost full tank and really want my money back!

We rented a car with Payless in Fort Lauderdale then dropped it off in Orlando and had a great experience. The vehicle worked without any issues, and their staff was incredibly helpful & friendly at both the initial vehicle pick up as well as at the drop off. I would rent a car from them again.

Quite disappointed with this rental place. I have used car rentals many times before but this was least favorite experience. We received the car dirty & nobody did a walk around with us or anything. Also, before returning our car, we filled the tank (just how we’d gotten it) & we were still charged a $30 fuel service fee for I don’t know what reason. I will definitely try to avoid this company for future rentals.

Cannot recommend if you have another option. Cost was not close to what was quoted due to the multitude of hidden fees.There was no convenient way to pay 1-2 small tolls so I ended up avoiding tolls all trip since most are cashless now. Simply wasnt going to use anything near 60$ of tolls. Plus, the map of the toll rolls at the desk was severely outdated now, so older folks without their own gps may be in trouble.Pickup and return signs were not marked well at both the Orlando and FLL airports with me having to ask someone only to find out I had to use the Budget and AVIS sections respectively. Every other company was clearly marked.The provided pamphlet w/ the car number and details, had the incorrect support phone number. Calling the numbers me to Budget car rental’s support center when calling despite it saying payless on the paper, and they did not have my booking when i had adjust my drop off time. I had to find the correct number online.Was not given the car i reserved, which i guess is normal. Still annoying not to get the car you reserve.The car itself was dirty, and had the parking break stuck on. There could have been some big issues if I didn’t fiddle with the parking break button and get it to turn off. Almost took it back.

We flew into Orlando and had issues finding the correct terminal to get the car. The counter was closed and had to go to another TERMINAL for the rental. The man checking us in was very nice and accommodating which made dealing with the hassle a little better and he upgraded us to a slightly bigger car. Thank you. Improvement option send a text to clients letting them know where to go when counters are closed.

I would give a rating of-5 stars if I could, because Payless is SO bad.The car they gave me needed new tires. I had a blow-out at 75mph on a very busy interstate! But, they generously gave me a 5% discount for all of my troubles. Their new motto should be "Payless and get even LESS! I will never use Payless or Avis or Budget car rental again.

I reserved through Priceline and picked car from Payless at Orlando airport since it provided the best price and flexible booking. I was suspicious at the beginning after reading some of the bad reviews but decided to given it a chance. It turned out to be excellent decision! The rental desk at Orlando was empty when I got there so I was able to get my car immediately and I even upgraded my media size car to a suv with paying a little extra. The car has only 6 miles on it! I had no incident dropping the car to Tampa airport either. Just dropped off half hour ago and I got my e receipt already. No extra charge!

Please ensure that if you are quoted a price, be sure to check and see what it covers, because my quote more than doubled. I will surely be using another rental car company in the future. I prefer to do business with a company that gives me reasonable actual estimates that are aligned with what I was quoted and should expect to pay. Not get over the head afterward with additional fees!

Rented a car from Payless in Orlando FL on Friday May 19th. When I first picked up the vehicle it smelled like an absolute ash tray. I figured since it was the only compact car available I would just put a car tree inside. As I continued to drive the vehicle it started to have a shake in the front end that proceeded to get worse as I arrived at my destination in Gainesville FL. It also developed a belt squeal. That evening, I called for a replacement vehicle. They stated the closest place for me to pick one up was closed but the Gainesville FL airport (30 mins from where I was). I immediately got in the car and drove to pick up the replacement vehicle. The customer service stated they already had everything ready for me and I just had to swap cars. When I arrived there was no car ready for me, or even one I could swap for (so I wasted 1.5 hours of my time). After being on hold twice for over 20 mins and once for 15 mins with being hung up on; I gave up for the night. The next day (Saturday), I called again with no answer after waiting 20 mins. I proceeded to drive the car from Gainesville, FL to Spring Hill, FL since I was on a time crunch and I discovered the car didn't have windshield washer fluid either. I called again (multiple times) to finally get through to someone, this time I spoke with a manager who set up a company to come tow away the damaged vehicle and to tow me a replacement. They finally came to pick up the damaged vehicle at 6:30p that night (Saturday May 20). Upon direction, they stated to call when the vehicle was picked up to send a replacement. I immediately called for a replacement that NEVER CAME. I stayed up until almost midnight waiting for the replacement vehicle. I called immediately Sunday morning when I woke up (8am) and after again, multiple phone calls, multiple people, I FINALLY got a vehicle towed to me at 4P! I was only in Florida 4 days and 3 of the days I spent arguing with the rental car company AND the replacement vehicle ALSO had a shake in the front end. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE and the vehicles are AWFUL maintained. It's a RENTAL CAR COMPANY they have one job, to maintain their RENTAL CARS. I also filled up the vehicle before returning it to the company, but they STILL charged me for fuel.Expedia spoke with the company to get me a FULL refund for this awful experience and they said "we can't find the people you spoke to." But if you call it immediately states "you are on a recorded line" so don't give me the I don't know who you spoke to. They have ALL my conversations recorded, along with my entire line of photos, screenshots, and receipts for this total trash experience.

Worst service ever! My flight landed at 7pm and no one was at the counter to assist me with my rental. I waited two hours and called customer services to complaint and was told that they could be on lunch break. Seriously, two hours? Another agent help me out and I didn’t leave the rental spot until 10pm. On top of getting my rental I got stuck with a car that’s I wasn’t assigned and that’s car was a KIA and was only available during that time. I’m was irked and just wanted to leave. I will not do services with Payless anymore.

Glad I went with this place. Easy process, really good price, and no issues or wait. They also didn’t try to push me to buy the extra unneeded stuff like most of the others do. Returning the car literally took about 30 seconds as they greeted us immediately at our car door after pulling into their parking area. I would definitely choose them again!
