I have banked with Trustco. For over a decade and I have never run into any major issues with my account, I have even had fraud attempts on my account that they caught and denied automatically.
10/10 live Trustco.

I’m only putting one star because I have no choice. What a terrible experience we had working with Branch Manager Christopher Perez. My husband and I decided to work with Trustco Bank as several family members referred us. However, our experience with this particular branch was horrible. It took us three weeks to obtain a PRE-APPROVAL. My husband and I would have to call pretty much everyday for an update on our loan application. Every time we called, the receptionist will tell us that Christopher is in a meeting or with a customer and that he will return our call. We understand he is busy, but we NEVER got a return call or an email each time we called. Christopher was well aware that we had a deadline to obtain a loan and he dropped the ball completely. My husband and I always provided necessary documents within hours of being requested. However, it took him days to respond and process documents, which delayed us even further. He also requested information that was provided in the application loan done online. He did not pay attention to documents and information being sent to his email and requested information again until realizing it was already in a previously sent email. Christopher and his underwriters DO NOT have knowledge when it comes to working with therapists. Christopher stated that he would need a report of my caseload to prove that I have a consistent flow of clients. I stated I cannot and will not provide such report due to confidentiality. Christopher stated that he would then need a letter from my employer confirming my hours and duties and once I provide that letter there shouldn’t be an issue with getting approved. I was able to obtain that letter from my employer. It took five days to do something with that letter just for us to get denied after Christopher stated that his underwriters needed the letter to move forward. My husband and I called Christopher, Christopher went around my question when asked why the letter didn’t suffice. He gave us the run around mentioning interest rates and how difficult it is for anyone to obtain a mortgage with the rates being so high. He also insulted both my husband and I stating that in order for us to get approved for the home, it would have to be $160,000. After speaking with SEVERAL outside reputable sources, they confirmed that my husband and I make well over enough. In addition to both of us having excellent credit scores, low debt to income ratio, and consistent jobs. They didn’t see how we were denied. We got approved within a day of working with another lender. My husband and I took this case to corporate and took other actions as well due to discrimination. We felt an instant switch once we sent over our information including our IDs. My husband and I are both 27 year old minorities purchasing our first home.

Tried to withdraw $200 from my account at the window and the teller told me I had come back the next day because she was not authorized to make withdrawal without a managers approval.

Trustco bank every time it never fails disappoints no matter what, staff is poorly trained. And their practices date probably from the 70s. I came to make a transaction withdrawal and they have only $10s and $5s, seriously?! Completely ridiculous I only keep this account because of the mortgage other than that please save your self from doing business with this bank unless you want to deal with the stone age practices the have at Trustco.
