We had to wait in line a long time, certainly over an hour, to pick up our car. The counter wasn't adequately staff to handle the rentals.

No instructions on the drop off at the Florida West palm airport. So it took me awhile to figure out where to leave the car and how to leave the keys.I never received a receipt that I dropped off the car no email even the next day. I had to look at my credit card bill to make sure I wasn't charged additional for any reasons. Not very good

Hour long wait to pick up my reserved and paid for vehicle. The provided me a full size pickup truck and I asked for another option. They said thats all they had even though they had an entire desk full of keys for other vehicles. They said that they are busy and I could go to another rental company. They said losing one customer isn't going to make a difference. I called the Manager and never heard back. I will NEVER rent from Avis again at any location. The customer does NOT matter.

Avoid renting at Sarasota on a Saturday. All rental lines are understaffed. Expect to wait an hour. Wizard is not enabled.My review above generated a boilerplate response (below) from the owner at Avis Sarasota -- just the same exact response that was issued to all the other reviewers in this thread who complained about lack of Preferred and of ludicrously long waits at this location. The response passes the buck back to an email address which does not look like it has any responsibility to correct the issues. The owner at Avis Sarasota meanwhile in their response does not address any of my problems. The obwner is not worthy of this franchise. Wholly unsatisfactory on all counts.

Avis rental cars and staff are great as always. This locating however lacks s preferred quick access to cars and wait times in line range from 20 to 45 min.

Avis is a very user-friendly car rental company. However, there was a long wait for a vehicle – I found this odd since our reservation had been made long ago - you would think a car would be waiting for us? Approximately 20 minute wait to find a car for us. A four-door wasn’t available and he asked if we would accept a two door. I said no, if you don’t have my car you’re going to need to upgrade. Which they did.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS AVIS! Unless u want to wait in line for 2 hrs to pick up your car. And this is a slow day!! I waited 1.5hrs, then the lines doubled in size. Those poor folks will wait 2x as long. Folks that didn't prepay left and went to another agency. None, not one had a line.

Pick up was smooth however on return I was overcharged.I was not offered a receipt when I returned the rental and only noticed the overcharge when I pulled the invoice from the Avis site so I could do my expense claim.Receipt I received on the Avis site indicated gas out at 7/8 and gas in at 2/8 and I was charged $41.76 for fuel service.The car was full when I picked it up and I filled it up for $31.72 at the Shell near the airport prior to returning the vehicle.I did point out this error on line to Avis Customer service. Autoreply states it is in the “queue for processing” and has been since I reported it in late November.No idea if it is an honest error or if an employee is running some sort of scam.I want to advise other renters that, if you do rent from this Avis location, demand a receipt from the employee that checks in the car and verify that there are no unexpected charges going on your card.******************************************I will add that the Avis folks noticed this post and reached out to me for additional information.I provided the support that they requested and they have issued a refund to me for the overcharge.
