“I have been a member of Lights-Out Boxing for several years, and appreciated its family-friendly, faith-driven environment. The gym has kept me motivated throughout my physical and mental health journey. Last year, my physician told me I would need life-changing surgery. To be fully transparent, I was scared—especially after learning how difficult the recovery could be. I do not usually share personal struggles, but I trusted Danny Pacheco (gym owner) and Coach Keith Moore (personal trainer) with the news. They put me on an eight-week health challenge focused on preparing me for post-operation recovery and pushed me right up until surgery. On my first day after surgery, I was required to walk one lap around the hospital floor. Later that evening I walked two laps multiple times, and by day three, I was averaging three laps every two hours. I was informed I would need physical help with daily activities, but that was not the case. I was able to care for myself, and not sure why, but I never needed to finish my pain medication. Every time I walk into the gym, I am greeted with warm, friendly smiles. On one occasion, Coach Hugh and Coach Marissa came over and asked if they could pray with me—without knowing what I was going through. It was exactly what I needed. I apologize if this review is long, but I do not write many and could not stay quiet about this Gem of a Gym. Today marks one week since my surgery, and while I still have a road to recovery ahead, I already have more independence than I expected—even enough to walk around the block.
