“I would first like to state that the quality of the store is immaculate, however my experience here yesterday was sullied because of three employees who decided to not only RACIALLY PROFILE my family and I but also ECONOMICALLY PROFILE me. What started as a trip to the store for my four children to go in and pick up a few items for our Saturday, ended with my oldest daughter expressing to me that she didn’t like how they thought we were stealing and she’s only 9, to have observed what was being done. As we were checking out my register was locked by an associate. Conveniently enough the three that had just been gathered around the registers all dispersed and were no where to be found. Once an employee showed up, he witnessed my scanned items placed in the bag on the counter, my cart which still had items to be scanned, and THREE candy necklaces I was in the process of scanning. He proceeds to ask me if we are done checking out before entering his log in to allow us to continue our purchase. STRIKE 1. After he enters his log in he looks on the screen to see what was scanned then proceeds to rifle through the bag sitting on the registers counter. STRIKE 2. I grab the bag to proceed to another register to continue my purchase because it became apparent what his assumption were. Lo and behold I was locked out of that register as well after attempting to scan one of the candy necklaces. I turned and asked if the reason I am being locked out is because of something with the product. HE THEN TAKES ALL THREE NECKLACES FROM ME, TAKES THRM TO THE BACK OF THE STORE AND RETURNS WITH ONE AND ANOTHER PIECE OF CANDY I NEVER HANDED HIM. He asks if he could scan the items himself, I politely told him I no longer even wanted the items. He turns around to ask me how many of the necklaces we had, I answered, and he then proceeds to ask me where the other two were. As a reminder I handed all three to him before he went to the back of the store so here we are at STRIKE 3! At this point I’m heated because I am with my kids experiencing not only an inconvenience in the midst of a outing for them, but an encounter I never thought could happen to us. Especially in a shop as inexpensive as this store. We watched several customers check out yesterday morning with no issues. It is unfortunate that my experience was ruined because of those three employees ( 2 African American females and 1 African American male) saw me and my family and decided based off what they perceived us to be, to make an example of us in front of other customers in the store. It was beyond humiliating and upsetting for my children to have been left with this impression once we PAID for the items and left.”

“Don't get me wrong this is one of my favorite Dollar trees to go to seeing how I used to work at the one on East mockingbird the main reason I go to the stores because the old manager she was really really sweet and kind and I really liked her now there is a cashier there that's a blonde young lady she's a sweetheart she is a really good cashier and she's sweet last time we went to the store it was really bad because there was boxes everywhere you couldn't even go down the aisles and I'm thinking do they not have a team that does their exhibits at night cuz they don't have any exhibits at the end of their aisles like all other Dollar trees that you go to they have a people that come in at night and do the end of the aisles with display I was mad because I went in there after I had spine surgery and I had to use a walker well there was so much stuff on the aisles and there was a guy that worked there that wouldn't even move out of my way and I'm like excuse me sir he's like oh I'm stalking I said I understand but I'm a customer I'm trying to purchase stuff and you won't move from in front of me but nevertheless I was okay with everything I just wonder why there's so many boxes and why they don't have a display team to do all the stocking at night after hours”

“The Store: This location is much better than the other ones nearby! It is large, very clean, and extremely well-organized. Unlike the store closer to me, this one does not have any outdated items on the shelves. Everything is new, fresh, and they have a really great collection of products. The Staff: The team here is very friendly and professional. It makes a big difference when the staff is welcoming and the store is well-managed. Overall: I would much rather drive the extra mile to come to this location than go to the one right next to me. Benning. This location had the best stuff!!! We found some beautiful items for her home that look just as good as anything from Hobby Lobby or any other home decor store.”
“This is my FAVORITE DG in Columbus!! I have NEVER had a bad experience here. The ladies are always very sweet and knowledgeable. They're helpful, the store is neat. The lines may get backed up for a little bit but never anything too long and most times it's out of their hands. “It's funny how I'd never been in a Walmart in all my life, until earlier this year and now I'm all about them. We stopped in here to pick up some first night/first week type of items for my sons new home. His first place and I'm surprised I held it together as well as I did.We were here to grab kitchen and bath mats, shower curtain/liner/hooks, utensils, dish set, kitchen towels, air mattress/bedding/pillows all of the stuff we needed to get him squared away until his things arrive and we secure regular items.This Walmart met our needs. I couldn't get him on the Pioneer Woman line that I love, he wanted a more masculine theme ;) but we were able to secure many items to get up and running this week. I'll probably come back and buy up some Pioneer Woman stuff or ship over some Mackenzie-Childs and Le Creuset for my own sake and just store in a cabinet at his place for my own use.This may not be our go to home goods store obviously as I love Besos pricing and several other options but in a pinch when you're around town trying to get a home up and running in a few hours this place will help do the trick.Service was friendly and store associates were helpful.”

Burlington Stores is giving its locations a major makeover. The off-price retailer has already transformed about half of its 1,115 stores and plans to complete the redesign across its entire fleet by the end of 2026. The company calls this makeover "Store Experience 2.0." Gone are the cramped aisles and confusing layouts that once defined discount shopping. Instead, Burlington is creating wider walkways, organized sections, and clearer signs to help shoppers find what they need.
Dollar General is adding more of its private label food offerings to stores, following similar moves by big retailers like Walmart and Amazon as store brands keep growing in popularity. The store is launching new items under its own labels, including ice cream, cinnamon rolls, coffee syrups, and salad dressings. The move comes as store brand sales reached $271 billion in 2024, up nearly 4% from 2023.
Daiso, the beloved Japanese retailer known for its variety of affordable household goods, is expanding further in the U.S. market. This week, the company is celebrating the grand openings of three new stores in Texas and California. On Saturday, Aug. 10, Daiso debuted an 8,000-sq.-ft. location in Beaumont, Texas, at Dowlen Towne Center, as well as two Southern California stores - a 6,319-sq.-ft. space in Van Nuys at Mid Valley Marketplace and a 5,200-sq.-ft. store in Westminster at Westminster Center.
Dollar Tree is moving into 170 former 99 Cents Only stores, marking a big shift in the discount retail landscape. The company announced Wednesday it's taking over leases in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas, with plans to reopen the stores under its own brand as early as fall 2024.
Ollie's Bargain Outlet just landed a great deal of its own, winning a $14.6 million bankruptcy auction for 11 former 99 Cents Only store locations across Texas. The discount retail chain pounced after 99 Cents Only abruptly went out of business in March, shuttering all 371 of its stores in California, Arizona, Texas, and Nevada. Ollie's quickly made an opening "stalking horse bid" to grab over a dozen of the empty properties.
