“My wife and I lived in Brunswick, GA for nearly a year many years ago, and most of our travels in the area were to St. Simons Island. We were in our late and mid. fifties before we had the chance to stay at Sea Island. The wait must have been worth it because Sea Island is a remarkably beautiful place. We stayed at The Cloister from a Thursday-Sunday and had a wonderful time. We had a beautiful two bedroom suite with a fireplace and a large living space with a long porch where the whole family was able to enjoy a room service breakfast every morning and one in room lunch and an in room evening meal that came with a nice set up and fantastic service. My wife and daughter stated that the spa was a perfect day spent. There is so much to do that it's hard to list here. Please see their website. It has all kinds of activities for the entire family. Yes, it's pricey, but it's a private island with exceptional service. If you ever get the chance to go to Sea Island and stay at The Cloister, you'll find the place to be one of the most beautiful on Earth and awesome service to go along with it.”

“We stayed at this hotel to attend a marriage retreat hosted by my job. My wife and I really enjoyed the location of the hotel and the access to the beach it provides. We also liked that the several restaurants were within a 5 min. drive. The room we stayed in was spacious. It was better than expected. The staff was really friendly and the service was great. My wife said that the complementary champagne at check-in was definitely a plus.”

“This hotel is in walking distance to four amazing restaurants AND you get to take advantage of all the King and Prince amenities as this is a sister hotel. They have bikes that are free with the room and delicious chocolate chip cookies daily. We walked to the beach and enjoyed a relaxing weekend without ever getting in the car! Very nice experience-excellent rooms and service! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful!”

“To start off, this is a 1940's motel, a lot of renovations but it still shows in the room. Cracks in tile, old stains in the floor. Overall clean, we did ask that they dust the air vents and the main light fixtures that were covered in dust for our daughters allergies. That did not happen during our stay. We did report a lamp not working in the living room and the office staff fixed that right away. The room is perfect for a small family, the bathroom is very tiny but it is clean.
The linens were clean and house keeping was accommodating with plenty of towels and changing our trash daily. We asked the office staff member with glasses (male) to help us clean the pool or make sure the pool filter was working. It did storm the day before but nothing was being sucked out of the pool by the filter. My husband and I cleaned it more than 15 times for our kids and it was still full of dirt. We never saw anyone help with the pool. We had to ask for towels. This same staff member smoking daily by the front door to the office was a major turn off . Also the lack of greeting guests. We would walk by and he would continue smoking like we were in his way. The rooms are very sound proof and the linens are clean. I do wish the rooms were dusted better and the pool was kept up more.

Rooms: Sound proof, older but clean. Clean linens.

Safety: Felt safe

Walkability: Close to Pier village

Food & drinks: Gas station near by and pier village for restaurants”

“Aptly named so you know it's a great location. We just wished we could have stayed longer. We had w nice view from our roomn which was bright and beachy. The bed was comfy, everything was clean and breakfast was decent. No complaints really except the parking is a little tight under the hotel. The pool is small, but there was a additional patio area. We didn't have time to visit anyway. Maybe next time.

Walkability: Walk to shops and plenty of restaurants or out to the fishing pier.”

“I had a restful one-night stay at Best Western! ? The room was spotless, and I slept soundly despite some early morning construction work outside. ??‍♂️ #CleanComfyStay #ConstructionNoise #”

“To be clear, my experience is with the roof top restaurant and the service I received on my last two visits.

Outstanding. The team is new (believed to be under new ownership or management) --- but my experience on both visits were great. The views are about the best for St Simons Island ... and the happy hour prices cannot be beat.

Regardless of any past experiences, lighten up --- and give them another try. Bartender is very willing to accommodate anything he has access to for making you the perfect cocktail. The appetizers are perfect and the burger is great. YOU cannot beat the prices, the view, and the service. What more can you expect. The world needs to just relax and stop being so critical and mean. Enjoy it, be glad you're on the island .... good grief enjoy it.

I will be back ... THANK YOU Ocean Lodge Restaurant staff!”
