I tried numerous stores in Kona & in Hilo too - none had the stock of ukes that Irene does at Agasa. I found exactly what I needed, and at a good price. The store has a friendly vibe too, and Irene is knowledgeable about her Ukuleles.”

“We purchased a sofa at Paradise Plants in Hilo, but our home is on Oahu. We just loved this couch, it was different and very much island style. Paradise Plants did an amazing job wrapping it up and took it to young brothers for a minimal fee. We received the couch in perfect condition and they were very very helpful making it easy for us to purchase it. I highly recommend Paradise Plants and when we return to Hilo we plan on visiting them again. Shout out to Shannon and Vickey.”

This store is a lovely mix of affordable local arts (jewelry, ceramics, fabric art, etc) and high end furniture designs from one of a kind woods obtained through local arborists. The owner/designer Jonathan is wonderful to chat with; so worth stopping in to wander the display rooms and be amazed in every one.”

“Fantastic local shop for futons, fabric, and clothing. I purchased two zabuton, a queen futon, and a futon cover here. The quality is excellent and the product is exactly what I was hoping for. I highly recommend this shop if you need any Japanese furniture, fabric, or just want to shop local in general!”
“Went to Home World Furniture and was greeted immediately by an associate. We were asked what we were looking for and shown several options to choose from. At no time did either of us feel pressured to make a purchase. It was a very pleasant experience. The associate, went as far to make sure we got the best price availabl, gave us a list of all furniture stores who carried the same item we were interested in. The associate suggested that we go home with the list and check the other stores out before making our decision.We did just that but didn't get the same treatment as we did at Home World in Hillo nor did they have the same amount of inventory either. I was surprised how we were pressured to make an immediate choice and make a purchase at the competing stores.In the long run we decided to go back to Home world and make our purchase. If, in the future we find the need to buy more furniture we will go to Home World. We will tell family and friends about Home World when they are looking for furniture too.”

“I ordered the custom pyrography platter from this wonderful business. I have long since admired similar works often found in hotels and store since I was a teen. I have been to the islands many times and owning such a work has long been a dream of mine. What can I say the platter is absolutely stunning and much loved. It also arrived carefully packaged so as not to cause any damage. I would recommend this business to anyone seeking out a lovely piece of art whether from home or visiting the islands. I was not on the right island when last I visited, but next time I am I look forward to visiting in person.”

Gareth returned my messages, answered all my questions and sent me pictures of our preferences that were currently in their store. He was gracious and friendly, no type of pressure, just following our pace and supporting our search.When we did go to the store, we met Gareth there, where he remembered what we had shared about preference, answered our questions about floor models and stepped away to give us time to discuss our thoughts privately.We did end up choosing a floor model and it was held while we arranged a pick up day/time.An easy and smooth experience. We wouldn’t hesitate to shop there again.”
