“We brought our senior little dog in on an emergency , she had a broken hind leg . Dr. Mina was the ONLY vet that took her in to check her out , NOT even her usual vet would take her @ HPP she stayed with her leg hanging for a couple of days ! While we called every vet to see if they could help her . He was able to save her leg and because my elderly parents could not handle taking care of her and keeping her stable at home Maka'i Vet kept her in their care for a month - till her leg was mostly healed and cast came off . Their staff was wonderful & even tho' over worked into long after hours they were still friendly ! We really appreciated them all! We need more vet Dr's like Dr. Mina on the Big Island . !”

“My 7 year old dog was having problems walking as well as suffering skin problems. My previous vet of 15 years, Dr. Castro, retired, and I was referred to the Pet Hospital-Hilo and Dr. Nagakura. I checked online and saw all the 5-star reviews, so that made me happy. Before intake and after my describing my dog’s problems, one of staff informed me of the probable costs involved. After I went home to await the results, Dr. Nagakura telephoned me to tell me what he had found. He began the conversation by thanking me for almost a full minute for raising such a wonderful dog. He and the staff fell in love with my sweet, calm, eager-to-please big affectionate dog, but the idea that I would be credited for raising him so well was a total surprise and really made my day. When I picked him up Nicky explained thoroughly my dog’s complicated regimen of medications, answered my questions, and urged me to call f I had any problems or concerns. Thank you Dr. Nagakura and Staff!”

“Although there were some rough days after the passing of Dr R. The clinic has made changes and continue to make changes to better accommodate the community. My two dogs who were misdiagnosed by another vet was treated and tested and taken off of Meds that they did not need. I am grateful for the care they received there. Dr. R would be so proud to know that they won the Best of East Hawaii for their clinic this year. Congratulations for a Job well done.”

I had pretty much given up hope because he was so sick and thin, but now I'm beyond happy to have my friend back, thanks to Dr Mina.
