“Visited Doris Place this past June during our family trip to the Big Island. We visited Holualoa during our trip to pay respects at a local cemetery there. Afterwards we stopped by a pleasant mom and pop small store called Doris. According to my wife's aunt, the store is named after Doris (who we also visited) who has run the store through many generations (she has recently retired). If you are in the area I recommend visiting Doris Place in a small little town called Holualoa. You will get good local community store vibes there.”

“Lots of great items for a great price. There are some items super expensive. The small liquor bottle is reasonable so def grab a few if you want to drink. Shirts can be 4 for $20, alcohol bottles 2 bucks or 2 for $5 or $7. They have some decent prices.”

“I am not too surprised about the prices here. It is HUH-VAI-EEE. Place is clean and decent selection. Standard Bakery stuff. Bought a salad that was good. It looks smalls in the photo but had two chicken breasts in it. I was stuffed.”

“Cool ac blowing, touristy schlock for days, conveniently located off the main strip. What's not to love. The only thing is that if you're not walking on the main strip wanting to duck in than don't try to get here. Parking isn't really easily available for a quick stop in for aspirins or something like that. Strictly for tourists walking the area.”

“Love the convenient location in Kaloko Industrial area and right by Costco. It's a cute little shop with always friendly and helpful staff. There lots of product, and, of course, all plant based. The only con would be prices are a bit high.”

“Came in to check out some plate lunch offerings late afternoon and was pleased to see a happy hour special of $5 for what sushi, bowls and poke was still present after 530 so we stocked up on poke nachos, spicy crab, spicy ahi inari and some sushi. Was impressed at the quality of fish and how the rice wasn't dried out! so good! Noticed so many people grabbing pizzas and burgers here as well - we were so curious how they were too but will try another time!”

“You can use your FoodLand/Sack n Save Maika'i card to get 5¢ off per gallon. That's so helpful right now with gas prices so high.We enjoy their Ice machine, keeps us cool with different flavors. They also have a smoothie machine that blends your pick right there. They also have different ready to go snacks from sandwiches, Musubi, fresh fruit bowls, salad bowls, etc. Huge assortment of drinks and snack.Wonderful customer service!”

“As a visitor, i love the costco here. It has so much Hawaii special items, from shirt, to nuts to coffee, everything is so attempting and reasonably priced. Most of the other item here are at same price as mainland US. Not like saveway, i found the stuff there are so much more expensive than the mainland. It's definitely a good place to shop when u are on travel.. i got some rare items here and I'm super happy!”

“Not a ton of pumps, and I didn't go inside so I can't say what that looks like. The price of gas is about average for the city currently. I did notice they have a vacuum available for cars (just one) but can't say if it's free or not. So why four stars you may ask? The reason is location, location, location my friend. Situated just up the road from the Kona Coast Resort, if you're bougie enough to be staying there or working nearby it provides an opportunity to get gas unmolested from the working class types in the city below. Located far enough off of a main highway or city street it is almost never busy which is rare at a gas station on the islands, so you won't have somebody crawling up your tailpipe to get at your pump. It's also situated on top of a hill, with gorgeous views of the ocean to contemplate while taking a moment to relax pumping gas before joining the unwashed masses below.”

“Steep 2 mile each way (4 miles round trip) hike, which takes about 1 hour each way for active adults. Stunning views and the bay looked awesome to swim/snorkel in, but we had gone late afternoon and ran out of time. Once you get to the bay, walk to the left to find the monument and swimming area. Wear hiking shoes or sneakers (not flip flops), as the trail has lots of rocks and areas you can easily slide without proper gear. Park at the corner of the highway and Napo’opo’o road (don’t follow signs to captain cool, which overlooks the bay). Trail starts across from 3 palm trees. Pack plenty of water, snacks and sunscreen (parts are shaded, others not) and get ready to sweat coming back up!”

“It's a great little mom and pop store in the neighborhood. The owners are truly nice people. They have a little bit of everything. Also, I go there for ice cream 1-2 times a week, and I told them about my favorite flavor of Ben and Jerry's, so they started to keep some for me! Nice right?! If u have to decide between going to shell, or here, please go to Sunset and support this place.”

“We rented a car from a private service and had to wash and vacuum the car before returning it. The touchless car wash was more than sufficient since we rented a sedan and didn’t do anything off-road. Price for the car wash was reasonable. You can expect to pay anywhere between $12-16 pretax depending on the level of wash you want either inside the gas station or at the drive up kiosk before entering the actual wash. They do have an option for brush washing but I’ve always had bad experiences with those. There are 2 stations for vacuum, air, and water. Vacuum is a little weak on picking up sand and in crevasses but it’s what you’d expect from a DIY car wash. Paper towels dispensers are on the gas pumps which are right across from the vacuum stations. It can get a little tight since you’re sharing space with the pumps. It can be busy in that area and there’s no real place to line up so you gotta make it work.Overall, it accomplished what we needed.”

“Don't be fooled by the generic condo exterior! This is one of the better places to buy cold beer on the Kona side of the island! They have a big cooler section with lots of chilled local cans.Tons of wine as well.Service was really friendly.I never would have thought of coming in here if it weren't for Yelp. It looks like the main office of some gated condo community from the outside, but it's downhome Hawaii on the inside.”

“I needed to pick up some DayQuil and this Longs was just up the street from my condo, so it was super convenient for me. It may be a bit off the beaten path for those unfamiliar with the area though. Parking is readily available and inside the store is tidy with plenty of people to help you find what you need and get you on your way.”

“We stopped at this station to fill up on the way to visit Volcanoes National Park. Gas prices were comparable to the prices the stations close by and actually better than some closer to our destination. We went into the store to grab some waters and musubi and the staff was friendly and greeted us as well as wished us a great day after we made our purchases. It was early morning and they had a couple different choices of musubi flavors which surprised me. I ended up getting a couple bbq ones which were just the boost of energy I needed to get through our adventures for the day.”

“They are always respectful to me, very kind and they ALWAYS make sure I have what I need(if they have it). I don't know what rude customers go in there doing to get yelled at... but they have been nothing but pleasant to me for over 7/8 years.”

“I have to give this place a 5 stars for service.I was trying to sign up for the CVS card so I can get the deals (the price for mauna loa mac nuts are much cheaper here than target or walmart) but my phone number kept not registering. They were so patient and tried to fix it but in the end it didnt work. The cashier offered to ask someone to scan their card so I can get the offer. This was the best service.”
