Black Tie Affair is one of the original tuxedo and suit rental shops on the island, a good ol’ fashioned mom and pop shop run by two very dedicated people. The husband and wife owners are gracious, warm, friendly, super nice, and down to earth. They know and love the business very well, providing superb service with great customer service and knowledge. The shop is by appointment only, located in a Kaimuki shopping plaza. It is spacious and clean, though finding it can be difficult as it is inside the parking lot area next to Curves; the owner will buzz you in. Parking fees are about $1.50 for an hour, paid via credit card. They provide everything from tuxedos and suits to shoe rentals for a reasonable price. They take actual measurements and help pick the perfect tuxedo, working with clients to make their vision come to life while being realistic. Some reviews note it can be very hard to get in contact with, requiring email which can take time for a response. However, other customers report getting a reply right away and praise the owners for being communicative and making people feel at ease and comfortable. For formal needs like weddings or last-minute events, many would 100% come back again, stating this is the place to go.
