“We’ve taken our dog Dexter to Dr. Cunningham for years and she is the best. She is knowledgeable and honest. She is thorough in her examinations and recommendations, outlining your options based on the diagnosis, cost of treatment, and likely outcomes. She never pressures or tries to “up-sell” you on unnecessary procedures. Last year Dexter needed surgery requiring anesthesia. Dexter has a mild heart murmur so I was incredibly nervous. Dr. Cunningham talked us through everything and made sure Dexter was given the proper care and attention he needed. She called me right after he woke up from surgery to confirm that everything went well. We frequently get compliments about how amazing Dexter looks and acts for his age (14) and I attribute a part of it to her care. We just got a new puppy and have been seeing Dr. Asato while Dr. Cunningham is on leave. She and her tech are great too (as a chihuahua parent, I love how much her tech loves chihuahuas). Choosing who to care for your fur babies is a big decision, and you cannot go wrong with Dr. Cunningham and Kailua Makai Pet Hospital.”

“I went in to see this veterinarian for eastern medicine, she assessed my dog. And gave him acupuncture. And some western herbs for some of the things that I wanted to work on. She’s very personable. Gave me a lot of information. Was open to all my suggestions needs and concerns for my dog. We were there for her over an hour. I felt very cared for. And my dog came home and was his old self playing and slept through the night. I am a happy dog, mom.”

“Im so glad I was able to get into this clinic the day I called! Back story - I used to bring my old dog here years ago. When my family came back from Japan with a new dog, this office wasn’t open. My dog was not acting like his usual self. His normal vet could not see him. I was told I needed to call around to other offices. I noticed Kailua Pet Hospital was open and decided to call. The gentleman who answered the phone at the front desk was so helpful and got me in within an hour. Dr. Thornburg was amazing and my dog felt comfortable with everyone in the office. It was decided that my dog more than likely injured his neck. We were sent home with meds that visit to help him feel more comfortable. Thank goodness he was able to be seen and the doctor figured it out, because he was in so much pain and the next day he was feeling so much better. Thank you Kailua Pet Hospital! We’re glad to have you back. Bonus… they give a military discount!”

“I honestly cannot say enough good things about Feather & Fur and the entire team who cared for our girl, Winter. Winter came in extremely sick after swallowing a foreign object and ultimately needed emergency abdominal surgery. What followed was an incredibly stressful few days for our family. She had post surgery complications and wasn’t responding to her medication and just not recovering as we had hoped. Throughout all of it, the doctors, nurses, and staff at Feather & Fur kept us informed and took her care extremely seriously. They monitored her closely, adjusted her treatment as things changed, placed a feeding tube when she needed nutritional support, and continued working with her while we waited for her intestines to start functioning again. They never made us feel like we were asking too many questions, even when we were anxious and needed reassurance. Then came the turnaround we were desperately hoping for. Winter started eating on her own, drinking, moving around more, her intestines began working again, and her vomiting finally stopped. She went from being extremely sick in the hospital to coming home with her full personality and energy back. Seeing her walk through our door again is something we’ll never forget. I know there are never guarantees with emergency veterinary medicine, and we understand how serious Winter’s situation was. But Feather & Fur gave her the care, attention, and chance she needed to recover. We are incredibly grateful to every person who took care of her, especially the staff who were there during those difficult days and treated her like she was their own. Winter is home, happy, eating, drinking, and being her crazy self again and we truly don’t know if we’d have gotten that outcome without Feather & Fur. Thank you to everyone at Feather & Fur for saving our girl and helping bring her home. We will always be grateful.”
