“I purchased Smith Sunglasses from Backwoods in April 2025, less than six months ago. The hinge broke this afternoon; I contacted Smith, asking if it is possible to purchase a replacement part. Smith responded quickly, saying that the defect is not covered by warranty, and they are unable to offer a replacement part.
I am disappointed that Backwoods sells products like this that break so easily and are not possible to repair. I urge Backwoods to not sell Smith products, and other customers to not purchase Smith products from Backwoods unless and until Smith develops a a more consumer friendly repair policy.
FOLLOW-UP: I have changed my review from 1 to 5 stars. Paddy, the owner, intervened with Smith, and they provided replacement sunglasses. I still don’t think I will buy Smith products, but I have to say that Backwoods acted very professionally and is a great store.”

Everyone I've interacted with in the retail, boot fitting and service departments have all been knowledgable & eager to help.I recently had custom Intuition liners fit by Alex in the boot fitting department, followed by some fine-tuning of my shells by Ken after skiing on them for a few days. Both of these guys are experts that completely transformed the way my boots fit.Seeking professional ski / boot services here in the valley, you tend to run into a lot of big ego's, which always makes for an uncomfortable experience. You'll find none of those here. Humble, approachable expertise is the vibe at this shop!”

“I really love this place. The brands and styles are great with a range of prices from mid to high, but most importantly the employees are sweet and helpful, which isn’t always the case in a resort town. I never miss a trip to Brass Ranch when visiting SV!”
