“I have had nothing but great energy, and management, from the staff at the Berwyn Extra Space Storage facility at 13th and Harlem. I originally rented a space online; then realized I needed More space and rented another small unit online. However, the two units were in separate buildings, very inconvenient, and I Still needed more space. I decided to actually talk with the very Live people working in the on-site office to see what could be done to better serve my storage needs. Elizabeth helped me find a space large enough for all of my stuff, and transferred or refunded my costs from my bad storage choices. I did need to "vacate" the smaller storage units within 24hrs, so I recommend you keep that in mind if you notice that you've make similarly bad storage choices. I had no problems reaching the 24hrs policy. There are enough carts, with great wheel systems, for me to easily move my stuff.
The takeaway? Go into the office; talk with a real person that can help you get the right sized space for your needs... the First time. At this Berwyn facility, I recommend Elizabeth as the go-to for assistance. She is very knowledgeable about what she does, and has a very personal touch.

“Safeguard Self Storage (170116)) in Norwood/Edison Park (Chicago, IL) has been invaluable to me. I discovered them in 2021 when I needed to store stuff from my apartment that couldn’t be moved into my childhood home. The conditioned storage units were fantastic to keep things in good condition for long periods of time.
I had to move in a hurry to a larger storage unit in 2022 after we sold the house we had lived in since the 1980s. The amount of stuff was unreal, but the staff helped me transition to a larger unit without difficulties.
I assumed I would always be driving to Safeguard to get whatever I needed whenever I needed it. I lost the ability to drive and local access to sort through things in 2023. The staff once again helped me get a smaller unit for a few months. I gave myself until the end of September 2024 to no longer keep anything in offsite storage. Reducing people, things, and memories to boxes in my apartment was not easy but Safeguard Self-Storage made it easier.
I love the access to the storage facilities. It is all done on the app – no keys, passcodes – and I could provide access to others when needed. They have carts to move things easily within the building. The vehicle access is great; but for me, the access to public transportation is good with Metra and CTA nearby. I hope I never have enough stuff to store at a facility again, but if I do, I am going back to Safeguard Self Storage.”

“I was very satisfied with the customer service from start to finish. The staff are personable and ready to talk to. The facility couldn't be any cleaner and felt like my belongings were secure with the cameras. There's an indoor "garage" you pull into so it's temperature controlled which is so convenient especially during Chicago winters. Annie went out of her way to clearly explain the facility procedures, demonstrated operation of the keypad entry and lock, and got me through the paperwork with thorough explanations of rental details, while in record time. Her upbeat and friendly demeanor made the arduous experience pleasant. The facility itself is clean and bright, the loading dock is large and easily accessible from both street and storage units, and large, easily maneuverable carts are ready for use immediately adjacent to the dock area. If I could give Annie and Life Storage La Grange Park 10 starts, I would do so in a heartbeat!”
