“So many different, new (and some old) games to choose from for all ages. Employee Kyle was so helpful pointing out popular, or his favorite, games. He even taught us how to play a few.
Open one Saturday a month til midnight. You can bring in your own games or use the complementary games available in the store.

“This place has really cool antiquities and coins. Silver and gold. You can hold something in your hand and that has been around for 3,000 years.
They are very fair at their prices both buying and selling. And the people that work there are extremely knowledgeable and helpful.”

The selection of materials is truly impressive. Whether you are a beginner starting a new hobby or a professional artist working on serious projects, you can find almost everything here.
There are endless choices of paints, brushes, sketchbooks, canvases, markers, and many other tools for creative work.
I especially enjoyed walking through the aisles and discovering so many different materials for painting, drawing, illustration, mixed media, and craft projects. It’s the kind of place where ideas start forming just by looking around.
What makes this location even more interesting is the building itself.
The store is located in a historic building from 1934 that was designed by the well-known Chicago architectural firm Graham, Anderson, Probst & White.
This firm also designed major Chicago landmarks such as the Civic Opera Building and the famous Merchandise Mart, so it’s fascinating to see their work in a smaller but very distinctive building like this.
Before becoming an art supply store,
this building was home to the historic Old Heidelberg Restaurant, a well-known German restaurant that operated here for many years.
The character of that era is still visible today in the building’s unique façade.
One of the most charming features is the beautiful glockenspiel clock above the entrance.
Behind the small wooden doors above the clock is a statue of King Gambrinus, a legendary European figure often known as the “king of beer.”
The statue was created in 1934 by Chicago artist Edgar Miller, adding an artistic and cultural layer to the building’s history.
Seeing this detail makes the storefront feel almost like a hidden piece of Chicago history.
As someone who studied painting, visiting this store was especially inspiring.
Having access to so many art materials inside a building that already has such artistic history makes the experience even more meaningful.
If you are in Chicago and working on any creative project, this is definitely a place worth visiting.”
“Fun store to visit. I went to 2 locations. One was in Bridgeview on 88th Harlem, and 2nd one was in Orland Square. Both locations are free standing. They are open every day except Sunday and certain holidays. They offer a variety of home decor, craft materials and seasonal items. I recommend people visit to take a peek. Both have handicap parking. The orland store has a few floors. They have elevators and an escalator if needed.”

“When I was a kid I sometimes got dropped off at my aunt’s house in LaGrange, and my little cousin and I would skateboard here bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, dying to get a glimpse at some Yu-Gi-Oh! cards in the display case or buy a few packs or cards of our own. Yes Steven has that very dry sense of humor and droll attitude that some people might not like, but that’s PART of Steven’s experience! He’s never mean. We LOVED going and talking to him, sometimes he would get a little aggravated with us and we would turn to each other and giggle, and he would talk to us about the card game and help us understand things. If I could go back in time and relive those core memories I would without a second guess, times were much simpler when we skateboarded down the street to Steven’s. He also taught us a lot of invaluable lessons! One I still use to this day! (Read the fine print on eBay listings, they’ll send you an empty box if they can!)”

This Michaels is very accessible, their location is very near and easy to find. You can go to their spot in just a few minutes from your area. Very convenient. The only reason why I gave them four stars is because their restrooms need some repair. But their place is still my preferred place to buy things for crafts and others. They are way better and cheaper than other stores around the place. Plus, this Michaels is also a great place to buy some decorations for Christmas and other special holidays. You can also order online and visit their website. They will bring your order to you quickly. Really wonderful spot! All of their items have really good quality. “I want to give a huge shout out to this amazingly kind little store. I was searching for a very specific item & one of their employees was kind enough to tell me the day their trucks came in & told me I could call & check. For two months I called and spoke with Alejandra and not only were they patient with me, they were kind enough to actually look. (I had called other local stores where I live and those employees were horrible to me.) I’m happy to say after my perseverance I got my ghost, and the staff was helpful, most importantly KIND after my two-hour round trip to get there. They really went above & beyond and I can’t thank them enough.”

Personally I couldn’t do that and I always see them working and stocking shelves and rearranging things. I give my daughter money and tell her to pick out whatever she wants once a week.
